Bills receiver Lee Evans is a year away from free agency.  But the team isn’t waiting for Evans to get close enough to the market to smell the beef and cheese.

Evans confirmed on Monday, according to the Associated Press, that the Bills have made him an offer on a long-term deal.

And Evans doesn’t sound like a guy who is looking to leave.  “With the talent we have on offense, we certainly have the ability to be as good as we want to be,” Evans said.  “The biggest thing for us now is to gain confidence.  If we can do that, we’ll be a very good offensive team.”

Evans, the No. 13 overall pick in the 2004 draft, is due to earn a base salary of $2.25 million in 2008.
