As reported here (and confirmed elsewhere), the Bengals have released linebacker Odell Thurman.
Bengals P.R. Director Jack Brennan has informed us of the move. Brennan says that a press release with a quote from coach Marvin Lewis regarding the move is coming soon.
Because Thurman has less than four years of NFL service, he’ll be required to pass through waivers. If he clears waivers, he’ll become an unrestricted free agent.

I can’t take it anymore! What did Bengal fans do in a previous life to deserve the hell that this team puts us through? This is a never ending rollercoaster ride through hell! It just never ends. As for PFT and Florio, I think your website would have to shut down if it weren’t for the Bengals. The Bengals have to be about 50% of the overall content. Please send Mike Brown some flowers.

Whoa, that’s kind of cold hearted on the Bengals. Plus can you release somebody for skipping voluntary workouts? I don’t think so. Poor Odell, hopefully he catches on somewhere else.

This really sucks. I had high asperations for Odell and hoped he had turned his life around. And if he has, this is a real slap in the face and a blow to his confidence. I was looking forward to him playing this year like he did his rookie year. If the reason for his release is because he missed voluntary workouts then he and player’s union should file a grievence against the Bengals. If this has anything to do with not returning the day after his Grandmother’s funeral then I think the Bengals need to take a deep hard look at themselves. I have supported the Bengal’s and been a fan for 40 years but this move is really makes my stomach turn.
