The Cleveland Browns announced today that offensive lineman Ryan Tucker has a hip injury that required surgery.

The team said Dr. Anthony Miniaci at the Cleveland Clinic performed the surgery on Friday to repair a non-displaced fracture in Tucker’s hip, and that the surgery was successful. Tucker is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.

A 32-year-old heading into his 12th NFL season, Tucker has had a hard time staying on the field in recent years. In 2006 he missed time with what was described as a “mental disorder.”  In 2007 he was suspended for the first four games of the season for a violation of the NFL’s policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.
