We mentioned last week the rededication of our friends at Sprint to the WiMAX project.  Once implemented, WiMAX will result in Internet access at much higher speeds for wireless devices.

The obvious question, when word broke that the project is moving forward, is when will it be ready?  The answer surprised us.

It already is.

In a joint release issued Thursday, Sprint and Samsung said that the network is ready for commercial service, and will be launched later this year in Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Attention all of you out there using carriers other than Sprint . . . mark your calendars for the expiration date of your current contract, and make plans now to make the switch.

Sprint is the official telecommunication partner of ProFootballTalk.com.  (And if you didn’t already know that, we hope you have enjoyed your first visit to our site, and that’ll you return on a daily basis.)
