"CBS is in a partnership with the Patriots."

What partnership are you talking about?

"The NFL has anti-trust status."

I'm betting you're repeating this without even actually understanding what it means.

Hmmm. CBS pays the NFL millions of dollars. CBS is in a partnership with the Patriots. The Patriots' coach grants an interview to CBS. CBS hopes to generate ratings and make more ad revenue. Many NFL stadiums and infrastructure costs are paid by taxpayers. The NFL has anti-trust status.

Hmmmm. What a cozy relationship among the NFL, CBS and the Patriots. There is a sniff of fiduciary fraud here.

I’m tired of Belichick trying to insult the intelligence of the American people. He lied, he cheated, he tried to make us believe he didn’t know he was doing anything wrong, and that none of the cheating since 2000 played any part in winning superbowls. This guy will do or say anything and he can’t be trusted. What a sad way to end what could have been a story of greatness…

I'm pretty sure the people that insulted the intelligence of the American People are (in no particular order): Arlen Specter, John Tomase, The Boston Herald, ESPN, and Matt Walsh.

I am not a hater, I am a football lover man. I saw all of the Pats playoff games over the years and even rooted for them in many of them. I'm a Harm City Colts hater, so the Pats never did bother me until this season.

The cheating bothers me, but not as much as the BS and cover up. What the Pats did was wrong. It was wrong in 2000, and ridiculous in 2006 and beyond.

Man up and admit your cheating and stop calling it a mistake. There was no mistake other than misjudging the new Commish.

Questioning the Pats and their credibility is coming from people who love the NFL, not just PAts haters. "

My response was a reply to Jermeiah W who is clearly a hater. Furthermore anyone that is a fan of any NFL team is hardly unbiased. As a Pats fan I can try to look at all of the information in an unbiased way, as I have, but there is no way I can be unbiased and neither are you.

People that NFL fans that are interested in the integrity of the game don't make vile and rude personal attacks on BB, Kraft, and even Tom Brady. Thats simply smack from haters.

People that NFL fans that are interested in the integrity of the game
don't generally ignore that its already been established that the Pats have admitted they were wrong and were severely punished for it.

People that NFL fans that are interested in the integrity of the game
either want it ALL exposed or thye want it dropped already.

People that NFL fans that are interested in the integrity of the game don't conveniently ignore certain facts while using heresy from questionable sources to "prove" their conspiracy theories.

If you dont think there are plenty of haters around here you must be living under a rock.

PFTiswhatitis cracks me up. How come only Pats fans are the only ones calling anyone who thinks he lied haters? They are the one who have put on the blinders. Trsustworthy guy or not, Matt Walsh has proof that the practice was recurring and secretive over many years. Explain that, if there was no advantage?

It seem you have it wrong... "You and other Pats blind lovers have been talking nothing but smack. So when you get called a moron you suddenly play the fool and try to ‘discuss’ things? Thats done with brother. You are just a blind lover plain and simple. You dont care about the facts. All you want to do is buy the hype on the rep of now very questionably one of the best coaches in our lifetimes through the lilly fields. The Patriots manipulated to be one of the elite teams in the greatest sports league in the world and for that reason you and others put on your blinders and deflect the facts for as long as anyone will listen.
Enjoy your miserable little existence this season while NFL fans are enjoying watching the Pats get what karma gives again this year."

Fixed that for you. Questioning the Pats and their credibility is coming from people who love the NFL, not just PAts haters.

THe patriots made a mistake and were penalized for it. BB even said he made a mistake by continuing the practice after the memo.

"so nobody of any intelligence is saying, “Haha, the Pats actually suck, they just cheated their way to winning.”"

'Nobody of any intelligence' being the operative phrase as you can certainly find that argument often enough here, intermingled with a wide variety of idiotic conspiracy theories.

BB has ten times the integrity of any of you fricken haters. Go crawl back under your rocks.

Seriously? I hate cheating and lying, but I don't live under a rock.
Is that really where anyone who is not buying the Patsies 3rd grade dog ate my homework, BS excuses for cheating, and worse, lying about it after getting caught?

I don't get the approval or condoning of this by any football fan.

The evryone else was doing argument does not explain continuing the practice after everyone else stopped.

There is no excuse for lying about not understanding the rules.

That is plain stupid.

Like destroying the evidence and creating a conspiracy out of a simple situation.

“bpenlandjr, a Cheerleader, says:

Pats got what they deserved by losing the SB. As a matter of fact, I would not doubt that there was a deal made to NOT win on purpose, to minimize the damage to the NFL brand. Think about it - this actually keeps the Pats in the news, and strenghtens their fan base, and builds a greater rivalry between them and others. Will make for interesting games next year…. More $ for the NFL Owners.”

OMG I think you may be right!!! The Pats should be immediately stripped of their second place trophy and forced to accept the Lombardi!!! Also there needs to be an investigation into how long the Patriots have been intentionally losing games and whether other teams in the league have been losing games on purpose too.

Of course I am right. This is the conspiracy theory of conspiracy theories- The Grandad of them all!!! Get with the program people! The Pats threw the superbowl to make more money. Billionaires need more money, they can barely afford a new Bentley for their gradkids!!

What a bunch of clowns, you anti BB & Pats fans you are.. Yes, BB personally wanted to hear what Matt Walsh had to diagram & say about the walkthrough.Thank G-d Matt Walsh let BB know that Marshall Faulk was returning kicks & where the TE;s lined up.Matt Walsh helped the Pats win the game. Lets all believe what a LOSER YES YOU MATT WALSH had to say. The rest of the losers who comtimue to bang the drum believe your dribble. I agree, Matt Walsh is an embarrasement. He kept the tapes for coaching interviews, no thats funny. Might mites in Pop Wasrner do not require video tapes for coaching interviews.

I am glad that people would rather believe Walsh than Belichick. I mean Walsh only led us on for the past three months leading onto believe he had a video tape of the walk through. He is such a moral person to call out BB in his misrepresentation of the rule. Strong words coming from someone who laced his bed with blender knives to preven his college roommate from sitting on it when he (Walsh) was away. Sounds believable.

I fear that in the future, as a result of all this media attention and all the idiots out there, the NFL will keep the next scandal under the rug as a result of everything that has happened from the videotape.

Here is one person who WANTS a full investigation into cheating in the NFL.....let the chips fall where they may, but don't just single out the Patriots. There is enough info out there now to look at other teams.....no wonder no NFL teams have piled on the Patriots......its clear they don't want to be scrutinized. I say lets go for it and be done with it. It would be ugly, but justified. PLEASE HAPPEN so people will just shut the f up.

you know the absolute best part of this? Reading the Patsies fan's reactions: "just give it a freaking rest", "you are ruining my favorite site", "wahhh wahhhh wahhh".

Love reading this!!!! Keep it up Florio. Even though you come across as a Pats apologist, you are really just sticking your fingers into an open, festering wound, and saying: "Who, me?!"

Why is the one guy who truly benefited from getting defensive signals during the time alleged, seems to never get brought up? Charlie Weiss as offensive coordinator benefited the most from this action. You would have to think that he was at least involved in putting this practice into place. It gave him an advantage calling plays, and may have helped him achieve a greater rate of success. His success allowed him to get a high profile college coaching job at a school that fired someone for lying on a resume about a detail that really had no bearing on their qualifications as a football coach. Weiss’s actions at New England relate directly to his perceived qualifications as a football coach. Maybe we are seeing how qualified Weiss is for this position, now that he is getting his own players into the system. Maybe Notre Dame should take a stand against someone who has truly provided a fraudulant football resume to his head coaching interview.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, this also occurred to me about Weiss. BB did admit he made a mistake. His reference to the Book of the Month club probably includes one of his favorites, LIARS, CHEATERS of the NEW WORLD ORDER, a future classic in the Hater's Club.

Not much of an interview. I assume there was more to it than the bits and pieces CBS slapped together. A full transcriot would be nice, or maybe they're planning on airing an extended version in one of their other programs.

The Patriots and Bill Belichick broke the rules. Belichick has owned up to it and been penalized. The Jets filed a grievance with the league, the Pats were penalized, and Belichick apologized. What does that mean? In that instance, the Jets were RIGHT and the Patriots were WRONG. I have no problem with the NFL continuing to monitor this situation, and, if they wish, they can go back and see if the Patriots did it more in the past, or if any other team (Jets included) has done it. It's a little late to penalize everyone, though, if it's actually as widespread in the league as every Pats fan would like us to believe. What good would it do to penalize a team five years after the fact? The team, the management, the front office could be entirely new and have no responsibility for the errors of the previous regime.

Let's stop dancing around the issue, though. As a Jets fan, I've heard enough of people trying to throw Mangini into this at every turn, as if he's constantly coming out in the media and talking about Spygate and how Belichick should be expelled from the league. As far as I can tell, he's said next to nothing since September 07, nothing beyond, "No comment." If you want to criticize him for calling Belichick out, fine. I can understand the issue with him probably having known about such tapings in New England and not saying anything about it then. But that's not the issue. While he might've known about it (and should've said something at the time, I agree), he wasn't the one responsible, was he?

Everyone knows the Pats are a great team, ok? They went 18-0 after getting caught cheating, so nobody of any intelligence is saying, "Haha, the Pats actually suck, they just cheated their way to winning." They're NFL elite. But that doesn't change the fact that they cheated at Belichick's bidding, and regardless of whether or not Mangini knew about it, he was simply an accomplice, one of many. And while what he did was wrong, I've had enough of people acting like what Mangini did was worse.

It wasn't.

I'm tired of Belichick trying to insult the intelligence of the American people. He lied, he cheated, he tried to make us believe he didn't know he was doing anything wrong, and that none of the cheating since 2000 played any part in winning superbowls. This guy will do or say anything and he can't be trusted. What a sad way to end what could have been a story of greatness...

And ESPN is fair and balanced on the whole matter?
Mort just said immediately after the interview aired that Belichick misrepresented Walsh-that Walsh never claimed to be a scout. Um, yes he did, many times and it's in print with quotes attributed to Walsh.
That was the extent of the ESPN reaction.
The Patriots are done with the media.
There have been too many lies, half truths, ignorance and pandering to the masses for the Patriots' liking.

That's some serious spin by Belicheater. It doesn't even come close to what Walsh was saying. Softball questions with no follow up to blatant mis-representations of what Walsh said and did.

He needs to be pinned down on those answers.

Billy Belicheater - "I told you the truth."

That's comedy gold, right there .....

Interesting that most pats fans accept the cheating. Seriously what does that say for them. Are all new englanders crooks or back stabbing folks of ill repute.
the nfl was supposed to be an honest game. The trying to cover this up is disrespectful to us fans.

I don't know if its always been this way. Where the nfl overlooks certain teams cheating to win or what. These slap on the wrist punishments for getting finally caught is for bringing home the hardware kind of makes the nfl a not so legimate sport. The nfl needs to clean up its allowing some teams to cheat right now. And come down hard on the ones that got caught so the future may be a bit more honest and fair from teams afraid to cheat. Otherwise its just big time wrestling. Who pays who off wins. Which it appears the nfl is now.

No matter what present or former Patriot they interview, no one will ever tell the truth in casual questioning. They would probably lie under oath as long as they feel certain that everyone will tell the same lies. The Patriots organization has proven they have no scruples.

Just saw the interview. They showed footage of Walsh filming a game in Patriots gear which
in Belichick's mind refutes the idea that Walsh had to do it on the down low and hide who
he was with. But there are holes in that line of reasoning. He did make a funny reference about
being in a book club with Walsh.

Here's hoping they also asked him whether his Defensive Coordinator, Eric Mangini knew of the practice of taping, and was content to keep quiet and allow the practice help get him a head coaching position, only to become a born again whistle blower when he thought it might help his career later.

Assuming the defensive coordinator was a willing party that would make him a cheater AND a rat.

On a different but related topic - am I the only one who is wondering why neither Senator Specter nor anyone in the media, nor the New York Times who conducted the interview had the common sense to ask Matt Walsh what the other team was he saw taping signals against the Patriots?

Are they all that dumb or is there truly a conspiracy among all those parties to turn their head when statements about other teams "cheating" are made.

The former coach of the Cowboys admitted to taping signals - and for some reason I haven't heard Specter mention him once.

they steal the signals because they want the other team to be on their toes and think they have to change it up because the Pats know what they're calling. this makes the other team mess up in an effort to hide what they're doing.

Walsh said he was warned....well duh. why let the other team know where the stealing is coming from?

I believe there is a 1 and 10 chance that there will be challenging questions given to Belichick. It should be assumed that all questions were either written by Bill or were handed to him prior to the interview.
Additionally, the timing of this interview should be looked at very closely. I do believe that a certain person close to the Belichick family is speaking on Real Sports tonight.

Wow, Mike! Good for you for telling it like it is! It's about time the people understand the persuasive influence Kraft & Co. has upon the NFL and some media outlets. If some media seems eager to expose the darker side of the Patriot Empire, it might be because they are so smug about only snuggling up to those people they like, and totally ignoring the people they don't. I hope someone starts to investigate Kraft's other business enterprises. Cheating is a disease that is probably found at all levels and depths.

Weiss's actions at New England relate directly to his perceived qualifications as a football coach. Maybe we are seeing how qualified Weiss is for this position, now that he is getting his own players into the system. Maybe Notre Dame should take a stand against someone who has truly provided a fraudulant football resume to his head coaching interview.

"Belichick has a history of granting interviews only to people he personally likes (i.e. Chris Berman instead of Tom Jackson)."

I don't blame him. After all, he isn't a public servant, who are accountable to the very people they serve.

According to Michael Holley's "Patriot Reign," Belichick is very friendly with Keteyian, Phil Simms, and the rest of the CBS team that covers the top AFC game each week. Whether that means this will be a joke or not remains to be seen, but Belichick has a history of granting interviews only to people he personally likes (i.e. Chris Berman instead of Tom Jackson).

Can we at least wait tll the interview has been aired before everyone expresses their opinions. Clearly their is no such thing as an unbias opinion in this whole mess.

Lets all remember a couple of things the Patriots video taped coaches signals from a prohibited location in the stadium. Stealing, deciphering or vieiwing the opponent's signals in the NFL per the Commissioner is not aginst the rules in the NFL or baseball as far as I can tell.

But it sure is fun to make Gamesmanship out to be cheating.
