When NFL owners gather on May 20 for a one-day business meeting in Atlanta, the primary item of business on the agenda will be a vote on the location of Super Bowl XLVI, which will be played on February 5, 2012.
The finalists are Houston, Indianapolis, and Arizona.
The next three Super Bowls will be played in Tampa, South Florida, and North Texas, respectively.

I’d love to see a Super Bowl be played in New England, Pennsylvania, Michigan or even Washington for that matter. Teams in the north start out at a possible disadvantage, knowing they can never have a potential home Super Bowl. But let’s say Arizona gets good really quickly, and they happen to make it that far on a year where the SB is located in the Cardinals’ stadium. Guess who wins that match up?

In the history of the Super Bowl, no team which plays in the host city has ever played in the Super Bowl the year their city hosts the Super Bowl.

What do you mean South Florida? Is that Miami? West Palm Beach? Tampa is also in South Florida.

What happens to the cities that will never be awarded a super bowl (Cleveland, shittsburg, cincy, buffalo, etc.)? Do they get a portion of profits or are they consistantly left to suffer? If so, how has this been going on?

North texas is Dallas and south florida is miami idiot. Anyway the NFL wants super bowls to be played in the south or the west coast, because of their great weather and better staduims. But if you dont know it does snows in Dallas every year.

Certain teams have to build their rosters to deal with bad weather experienced in the later half of the season. Occasionally some high-powered offense stumbles into a team near the canadian border & gets their path to the championship cut short or have home-field advantage all the way guarnteeing that they never run into any problems not brought on by themselves or opponents. But those “tougher” teams find themselves @a huge disadvantage every year when they make it all the way.
Behemoths smashing each other in terribly inclimate weather is the backbone of the history of smash-mouth football, people love it. I know all my linemen buddy’s were foaming @the mouth for snow games.
Why is it so absolutely necessary to have every single superbowl in a dome or in nice weather. NOONE is going to not go to the superbowl b/c it’ll be cold out &/or possibly precipitating on the field @gametime, Nobody. It’s a weak fake excuse in picking SB sites. If you put one in Salmonslickspit Montana it will sell out, quickly, and if it doesnt sell out quickly i’ve got tons of family/friends who are interested in picking up the tickets.

North Texas = Arlington, Jerry’s new 1 Billion correctional facility.
South Florida = Miami Gardens (Is that technically Miami?).
Indy is going to “win” this anyway. Or “be awarded” for Lucas Oil field.
And always Miami. Miami sucks. It rained there each of the last SBs played there. Just because you press guys (eat this, Florio) like it there … Each of the SBs played there was crap. The Stadium sucks. The weather sucks.
I wonder when Houston (best SB of all time, nice stadium, terrific fireworks last time the SB was hosted there) is going to get it back.
I think they should just cycle it between Tampa, Arlington, Arizona, make natural grass a prerquisite and play once in ten years in city’s like Detroit (where everything sucks) or Indy. When they play in domes, they should keep the roof open.

There was one home team that did get a host in the Super Bowl. I believe it was Super Bowl 19 when the 49ers beat the Dolphins and a very young Marino. That game was played in Stanford’s stadium, which was essentially a home game for the 49ers.

If you don’t put the Super Bowl in a warm weather city, the sports writers whine about it for the entire two weeks. Just look at what happened in Detroit…and that was in a dome.
Denver would be an awesome location for a Super Bowl. Lots to do, and great stadium. Besides, as long as Shanahan is coach there, you won’t have to worry about the Broncos having home field advantage in the Super Bowl.

put on in pittsburgh!!! why do they gotta hate on the cold outdoor places?? during the whole season teams are playing in places that are cold. this gives teams (such as Indy,Rams, the vikings, ect) an advantage beacuse they play all ther home game in a dome and are use to it. Then you have da stiller for example who rarely play inside a dome.

the reason that the super bowl is always played in
a so called “fair weather”site is due to the people
attending the games.think about it.all these corporate
types and their entourages jet in on the corporation’s
dime.they show their tans off,compare winter vacations,
wine and dine and then fly out.these people want to be seen at the event,otherwise they really have any deep interest in football.
the guy sitting in the top row of ralph wilson stadium in a driving snow storm in december is the real fan.

Football played on artificial surfaces and especially indoors is an abomination. Any team that wins a Super Bowl indoors should have an asterisk next to their name in the record book.

They should award it to Buffalo for the sake of te loyal fan base… I am still miffed that they want to slowly give Toronto NFL football at the expense of the Buffalo Bills fans… I know that Buffalo is no shangra-la but come on… Those fans have been there through thick and thin… One time have the courage to play football in really tough conditions. Make the corporate exec’s party on a level playing field… Oh no Canada!

Dome teams do hava a significant statistical disadvantage in the playoffs when they have to play outside in the - brrrr - cold.
Domes stink. Even Katrina knew that and tried to rip of the roof from the Superdome.

I know my suggestion will never happen for business reasons, but this is what I’d like to see:
The team that wins the Super Bowl in year ‘X’ should host the Super Bowl in year ‘X + 1′. So, for example, the next Super Bowl would be in New (Jersey) York.
This would get the Super Bowl back in stadiums with actual football weather, and provide an incentive for high level teams who might get to win a Super Bowl in their own stadium.
