As we all wait for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to speak about his three-hour-plus interview with former Pats employee Matt Walsh, the league has released some of the videotapes that Walsh surrendered to the league.
The tapes are being shown to the media that is assembled in New York for Goodell’s press conference.
Goodell is expected to speak to the media soon.
By the way, the television coverage of this event, on both ESPN and NFL Network, is creating the sense that something big is coming.
Then again, so did Geraldo Rivera’s coverage of the moments preceding the opening of Al Capone’s vault.
Meanwhile, various of the talking heads onf ESPN seem to be under the impression that defensive coaching signals taped in the first half of a game can actually be used in the second half. We’d love for one of these geniuses to explain in detail exactly how these Cloverfield-quality tapes could be broken down and digested during the same game.
These tapes were made for use in future games, either against the same team or involving the same head coach or assistant coaches. And we’ve known about this practice since September.
But, then again, ESPN has to talk about something while we wait for the Commissioner to speak.

Aw shucks “Funny Pats Fan”…no..actually…I am an NFL fann who plainly sees a witch hunt….and a bunch of people who know NOTHING….you being the head of the class. Keep up the hatin’….and keep trying to make something out of nothing. Prior to the warning…EVERY TEAM IN THE NFL videotaped coaches signals….FACT…admitted by some of the top former coaches in the game…..every team did it. Period. Now…the Patriots did ignore the warning and did it in the Jets game after the LEAGUE WIDE memo went out again telling everyone they could no longer do it……it was mandated not to do it any more. So yeah..the Patriots got penalized for that. But again./..and please…try to grasp it….every team did it prior to the 200 season………..and teams still did it after that too…but the Pats got caught….Mangini turned them in…even after the Pats caught him doing the same thing and didn’t turn him in. Again…whatever….you haters all have your agendas……….good luck with that…but please….find a new “binky” now…maybe jump on the Arlen Specter re-election campaign…god knows he’s gonna need help after his foolishess is done

Coolhand, you said:
This goes to show how underhanded the Patriots organization has become. I would have a lot more respect for them if they came out and said “yeah we did something we shouldn’t have been doing - I accept the punishment of the League.” Instead we get “Oh….I misinterpreted the rule that clearly says no cameras or filming.” Either Bilichek is a complete idiot or he thinks the general public is to offer such nonsense and expect anybody with any reasonable intelligence to believe it.

If there is no cameras or filming allowed, why is each team allowed to look at an aieral shot of the offensive/defensive lineups following each series? You clearly see this one the sidelines. How is that any different from the Pat’s taping? I’m just curious to know. I mean, you see a certain setup on the field and you change the play, right? Well, you see a certain signal come in and you change the play, whats the difference?

As smart as BB actually is, do you think he woke up one day and said, “I should tape these signals”!
