Though former Pats employee Matt Walsh claims that he didn’t tape the Rams’ walk-through practice prior to Super Bowl XXXVI, and that he knows nothing of the existence of such a tape, Sal Paolantonio of ESPN reports that Walsh shared some of the things he saw at the walk-through with former Pats receivers coach Brian Daboll.
Per Paolantonio, Walsh noticed that former Rams running back Marshall Faulk was lined up to return a kickoff. Walsh also noticed that a Rams tight end “rolled a certain way” based on a specific coverage from the Patriots.
The fact that Walsh passed along these nuggets isn’t necessarily evidence that he was doing anything wrong. He and other Pats employees were in the building, setting up their equipment for the game.
The most signficiant aspect of this disclosure is the apparent decision of the Rams to proceed with a walk-through while Patriots employees were present. Unless coach Mike Martz was running dummy plays in the hopes that the Pats employees would pass along misinformation, it was beyond reckless for Martz to not insist on the removal of all enemy eyes and ears from the premises.

“Wearing Pats gear does not automatically = “Pats employee”.”
No it doesn’t, but for the Rams it does mean that “maybe we should have our security guys go over there and ask him for his credentials”
Don’t cha think? You know, those practices are usually closed. Or maybe the Rams thought “who cares?”

Quote from the story-”Walsh also noticed that a Rams tight end “rolled a certain way” based on a specific coverage from the Patriots.”
So the Patriots coverage units were on the field during the walk trough too? No wonder they didn’t need any input from Walsh, they were there too!

You can blame this all on Mike Martz if you want, but don’t overlook the the fact that Belicheck has been cheating for nearly a decade (at least), and clearly nothing is beneath him. Walsh and any other Pats employees present for the Rams walk-through must not have had much work to do if they were able to notice, and subsequently report, specific actions and plays of the other team. Any way you look at it, and despite who is at fault, that’s just plain wrong. I’d really like to see some stories where Pats fans (i.e., the person in CONTROL of this site), doesn’t simply brush aside valid concerns because HE thinks they are meaningless.

Belichick has been punished for what you call the cheating for nearly a decade. If the Rams didn’t think enough about having members of the opposing organization on the field during walkthroughs, I don’t think we should.

I’m wondering whether Daboll, now with the Jets, was the source of the tape in Walsh’s possession that was recorded after the latter had been dismissed by the Patriots. I would not be surprised to discover that Mangini and company were big players in keeping this controversy going, especially given the notorious animosity between the Pats and Jets.
