booger is injury prone.

and the title should replace the word "up" with the word "a".

Are Booger McFarland and Corey Simon the same guy? I've never seen them in the same place at the same time. I mean, except on Injured Reserve.

Well heck, you just know the Panthers want some. If they're giving Darwin Walker and Ian Scott a chance, why wouldn't they be interested (IF the money's right)?

What... Corey Simon wasn't available? I cannot see Booger even making the team, so why not get a young gun instead of paying the veteran minimum for a guy who's been on the back nine of his career for about three years now.

I don't know what his measurables are (I know, I know thats not very hard to find) but unless hes about 6'3 and 290 , I'm not sure that he fits the typical mold of a 3-4 DE, at least for the Steelers. He's going to need to be ridiculously strong otherwise.

I guess it is a non issue as the only thing behind Smith/Keisel is Kirschke, McBean and Eason?

Shit putting it that way, sign him, who cares what shape he is.

With the Raiders still unsure and unproven on their line, I'm surprised they haven't given this guy a workout and offered him something to see if he makes it through camp. They need bodies and guys with some kind of talent instead of all the unproven commodities they've been paying. Perplexing. Maybe he wants too much.

When I opened up the link to his website www.booger92.com I noticed there was no substance to it? No back end? Nothing... Maybe that tells us something? He should just rehab and find a team desperate for someone who can give a deliverable!

You will not see the Steelers switch to a 4-3 until Dick Lebeau either retires or dies. McFarland, in my opinion will be play DE if the Steelers sign him.

Makes a lot of sense.

Bring in a proven veteran to smooth the transition to Tomlin's preferred 4-3 defense.

The problem is, didn't he already fail a team physical once, when they wanted to sign him earlier this off-season? At least if he can pass one now, they've driven his price down.

Well someone might pick booger.teams desperate enough may give him a nibble.. But in the end he is going to find himself flung aside. I doubt hes going to stick anywhere.

The guys Tomlin has been drafting/signing are guys that could fit in a 3-4 or the Tampa 2. I think if they sign Booger he'll play DE in the 3-4 until they switch to the Tampa 2.

...interesting bit of "reporting" by John Harris of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, he usually just cuts and pastes stuff from PFT. The article reads like a press release written by McFarland's agent.
