After his first taste of life as a quarterback in the NFL, Joe Flacco isn’t flustered by the leap from the Delaware Something-Or-Others to the Baltimore Ravens.
“It’s pretty cool,” Flacco said on Sunday. “It’s a lot of fun to learn something new every day. There was a lot thrown at us, and I did the best job I could to absorb as much as I could. It was a good experience.
“I don’t think it’s intimidating. You’re just anxious to get out there and see what it’s like. I’ve grown a lot over the past three days. I got to know everybody, and I think it worked out well.”
Flacco drew raves from teammates Derrick Mason and Samari Rolle after his first day on the job. But the most important guy to placate is the head coach, John Harbaugh.
“He can throw the ball, he’s smart,” Harbaugh said. “The thing I saw when we were moving the ball is he’s got to get the ball out quicker. Those guys can cover some ground when they’re blitzing and he’s got the red jersey on now so he didn’t feel the ramifications of that. I think he understands the speed of the game a little bit at this level.”

First, what else is Harbaugh going to say? “Yep, I already regret taking this Flacco kid. He doesn’t have what it takes, after all.”
But even if he’s being truthful, always remember that Byron Leftwich was not only NAMED the starter in February 2007, but he looked good in all the various camps until about halfway through the preseason schedule.

When all is said and done, Joe Flacco will be the best QB that came out of this draft.

I can not wait for Silverback and the rest of the Stillers defense get a chance to take him down. They will properly introduce him to the NFL
Go Stillers!

Delaware Something-or-Others? C’mon Florio, it’s funnier if you use the real thing: Deleware Fightin’ Blue Hens. Really, how can you top that?

This isn’t much of a surprise if what the Ravens said when they drafted him is true. And that is that they had been watching him for a long time and he was the one guy they really wanted.
We’ll have to wait until August and actually see this guy on a pro field, in pro gear playing against some pro competition before we have any real idea of how he’ll develop.

I don’t know about this kid. Yes, I’m impressed with the arm-strength and his size. But isn’t that what prompted Baltimore to draft Kyle Boller?
Also, it would concern me that he couldn’t win the starting job over Palko at Pitt. But we shall see.

“Delaware Something-Or-Others”, that’s pretty low-class Florio. Some of the best players in the NFL came from small-schools.

The Delaware Something-Or-Others? You’re insulting my alma mater. There is a long line of NFL QBs from UD – Rich Gannon, former NFL MVP. And don’t forget, uh, uh, Andy Hall? Ah screw it. All hail the Delaware Something-Or-Others.

You are all actually wrong…They are actually the Fightin’ Blue Hens, give them some credit. The Fightin’ puts a lot more fear into the hearts of opponents.

And John Beck looked good in training camp!
Its a golden rule: rookie QBs that look good in training camp, often get flustered on the firled of play!
On the other hand Henne sucks in minicamp… so maybe hes our savior afterall!

Light-Pounder,
Hopefully the Stillers dont introduce themselves the way Bart Scott intoruduced himself to Ben! Ben was so impressed that he just laid there motionless on the ground to regain his composure for several minutes. The Ravens have re-introduced themselves 16 to 17 times to Ben in the past 2 years.
Looking at Joe’s rushing capabilities and size, he may introduce himself to your secondary! Lord knows Troy Palamolu wont stop him!!

I don’t see what the fuss is about this guy. He couldn’t even get ahead of Tyler Palko on the depth chart at Pitt, so he ran to Delaware.
Hmmm, well come to think of it, I guess it’s still an upgrade over Boller.
