Though former Lions running back Kevin Jones, a first-round draft pick only four years ago, hasn’t gotten much interest since being released, Jones quietly visited with another team last week.
Per Adam Schefter of NFL Network, the Patriots brought Jones in for a look-see.
Jones suffered a torn ACL last year, and his 2006 season was marred by a serious foot injury.

The New England Patriots probably took a look. Then stopped looking. Because though he had promise, he seems to stiiiink.

Kevin Jones? How about signing some linebackers that aren’t eligible for social security?

Faulk is getting older, but he is still the man on 3rd down pass protection/ screens. Jones would have to dazzle to be worth the roster spot.

It is not like they need a workhorse with Maroney there. He would be alright if he can pass a physical. Lions are weak. Millen is the biggest douche there is. How about getting a taste of coaching and realizing that your Decision making as a coach gets you hired and fired. Its not like they are bulletproff like a Mustached D-Bag GM. How bout taking a look at your own record. D-BAG!

The Lions offensive line was terrible. How could you run behind that line? I think he could get to about 4 to 4.5 yards a carry behind the Patriots line, and the threat of the pass.

Well if he stays healthy a maximum of four to eight games per season, he is the perfect addition to Maroney (can’t stay healthy) and Morris (you might have guessed it).

If healthy, Kevin Jones is a great RB. He would be a great 10-12 carry RB like Marion Barber in Dallas, IF he can stay healthy.
Getting off the astroturf in the dome will help him. I think Kevin Jones will be a great signing for some team.

Sammy Morris was outstanding last year until he went to IR. Between Maroney, Morris, Faulk (and occasionally Eckel), the Pats need nothing at the RB position.

@subzero2401 - Seriously, this allegation regarding the Patriots “aging” linebackers wasn’t made last year until Roosevelt Colvin was on the IR. Before that, everyone was praising the Pats LB corp. Tedy Bruschi and Junior Seau were not meant to take that many snaps last year. Not to mention, they used two relativly high draft picks on linebackers. Your point is pretty much void.
Regardless, I don’t really see this happening. Maybe a third down guy, Faulk had a solid season, but he has been nagged with injury issues in the past. Sammy Morris looked good, but was injured most of last year. This wouldnt be a terrible move to create competition, but I doubt he’ll make the team.

I just don’t get why they don’t put Corey Dillon back on the roster. He still amounts to almost 4 Million bucks in dead money against the cap - wouldn’t they get him for free?
I think they lacked a runner like Dillon last year in the playoffs when Morris was out. I know Dillon is the definition of one-dimensional downhill running and would cost a roster spot, doesn’t play special teams, and he’s not like a couple of years ago (when they gave him the extension - did anyone ever blame the Patriots on THAT contract?). But when they needed power last season in the playoffs.
Well forget this. Heath Evans is probably a better power package over Dillon.

kevin jones was having a monster year the other year before getting hurt. he’s definitely an injury risk, but who cares, you can get him cheaply and he’d just be part of the committee. he’s very talented and would be a fine role player. once again, belichick and pioli are smarter than all of you, who probably criticized the signing of corey dillon too.
