Three of the men accused of killing Redskins safety Sean Taylor got a bid of good news recently. If, that is, the prospect of spending the rest of your life in prison (and all that that implies) is deemed to be better than getting it all over with in the short term.
Prosecutors won’t seek the death penalty against the three defendants who were over the age of 18 at the time of the killing. The suspect who was under 18 when Taylor was shot in his home last November isn’t eligible for the death penalty, by law.
The attorneys for the three defendants received a certified letter on Friday announcing the decision not to attempt to put the men to death. “The state would have to show there was some premeditated plan, in my opinion, to seek the death penalty,” said Michael F. Hornung, the lawyer for one of the three men.
If convicted, the three men will instead face a mandatory life term, without the possibility of parole.

Gandhi was born in ‘69 … 1869, that is. Lifestyle and location were waaaaaaay different than living in America today. He absolutely did some dumb things, though, but still … do I need to explain his extraordinary contributions to human civilization? I think I’m allowed to use a famous quotation from him when appropriate. And it indeed was appropriate.
And Vox, it’s more humane to be left alive and have three guaranteed meals, free health care, etc. etc. like mentioned above. You might not be sure now what the worst case is … but I’m sure if you were put on death row, you’d be like 99.9 percent of the others and beg passionately for your life to be spared.

executions only takes a long time to come to fruition because of bleeding hearts and the insertion of greedy lawyers and dishonest judges in the “system”.

Not sure why everyone saying “eye for an eye” isn’t doing math. There’s 4 of these dudes and there was only one Sean Taylor. So… that’d be 8 for 2. Who was the shooter? While the other three were likely in the room, can we just assume that they would have pulled the trigger also? The gun wasn’t in their hands.
