Veteran receiver Joe Horn, who joined the Falcons at a time when the organization looked much different than it does at the present time, is planning to ask for a trade, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“I want to win a Super Bowl and I want to win a Super Bowl here in Atlanta, but I don’t think I can help this team win a Super Bowl sitting on the bench, waiting for third down,” Horn said.
Horn reportedly hasn’t asked the team for a trade yet. But given that his wishes have been printed in the pages of the local newspaper, we doubt that he really needs to do so.
During a recently-completed minicamp, Laurent Robinson ran with the first team ahead of Horn. Roddy White is the other starting receiver.
“I know I can still play — and start — but Roddy deserves his chance and Laurent Robinson is making plays and he deserves his chance,” Horn said. “When I came here last year I was promised I’d be on the field and it turned out I was a just-in-case guy with the situation that went on. So far this year, it seems like that’s the case again.”
Horn, a 12-year veteran, spent four seasons in Kansas City and seven with the Saints before signing with the Falcons in 2007. He’s under contract through 2010, at salaries of $2.5 million, $2.9 million, and $4.6 million over the next three seasons.
Our guess is that no one will want to trade for Horn’s contract, and will instead wait for him to be released so that they can sign him on the open market. Unless, of course, he’s willing to restructure his deal downward as part of any trade.

I don’t know who that guy interviewed, but that’s not Joe Horn. Here’s how the REAL Joe Horn would have said what was said…
“Joe Horn knows Joe Horn can still play — and start — but Roddy deserves his chance and Laurent Robinson is making plays and he deserves his chance,” Horn said. “When Joe Horn came here last year Joe Horn was promised Joe Horn would be on the field and it turned out Joe Horn was a just-in-case guy with the situation that went on.”
I doubt he’d ever use the word “I” in referring to himself. The Royal “We” (We are not amused) possibly. But never I.

The Bungles should make sure they have Horn on speed-dial when he gets released…no trade happenin’!
He would be a nice insurance policy for the inevitable demise of Ocho Psycho’s playing time in Cincy.

Joe Horn has been a solid NFL receiver for a long time, but ever since that astounding ‘04 campaign of his, Horn clearly has been deteriorating (NFL wise). He is going to have to admit the truth to himself at some point, but he should be given credit for still having passion for the game.

he should have never left the Saints. I feel no pity on him. the fans in new orleans loved him and he went to a division rival. sit on the sidelines and watch, while the Saints go on a roll

Joe Horn believes that Joe Horn would be better suited playing football in Commonwealth Stadium, Edmonton, Alberta Canada. Besides, what wide receiver would want to be in Cincinnati to replace that ‘Legend in his own mind, Ocho Stinko?’ Any professional athlete would want to be on the field when the rousing rendition is sung… Ladies and gentlemen in honor of our nation would you please rise for the playing of the national anthem…’OH CANAAAAADAAAA… Our home and native land… True patriot love, in all thy sons command… With glowing hearts we see thee rise… The true north strong & free… From far and wide OHHHH Canada, we stand on guard forrrrrrrrr theeeeeeeee. God keep our land, glorious and free… Oh Canada we stand on guard for thee. OHHHHHHH CANADAAAAA, we stand on guard for theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
