On March 1, Denver Broncos defensive tackle Marcus Thomas was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. On May 9, Thomas was cleared of any charges.
“He just wants it to go away,” agent Richard Burnoski said. “He was embarrassed by this.”
“The people that supported him, the Broncos and coach Mike Shanahan, his family and a lot of the fans on the message boards, he thanks them,” Burnoski said. “It’s good to be proven right.”
There’s no word on whether Shanahan’s report came after Thomas passed a polygraph test.

Passing the polygraph test doesn’t mean you told the truth. It just means you’re a good liar!

Being found innocent in the court of law should mean you told the truth, unless your OJ Simpson. A case like this happens often in towns around the United States, drugs are a big problem in the high school I attended alone. I know plently of friends who had been stopped for speeding and a cop goes and finds marijuana on a passanger in their car which the driver had no clue he had. It’s really pretty pathetic that you would call yourself a friend to someone and put them in a situation where you may not inform them that there could be trouble as a result of your actions.

Why is it that every good Bronco player that is arrested gets cleared of all charges, and never does any jail time?

The man didn’t take any polygraph. That is Florio’s attempt at humor. Although when it comes to the broncos he seems to only have 2-3 jokes in his arsenal.
Anyways, the man was cleared of all charges. He did not go to court, it was never necessary. The District Attorney realized after reviewing the evidence that Thomas did not do anything wrong.
The only thing Thomas did wrong was asking the wrong person for a ride.
I am sure Florio and everyone else does a thorough inspection of another persons car when they get rides though.

Denver seems to have taken a turn in it’s view of drafting or signing bad guys. This year they stayed away from questionable players and drafted the complete opposite. One of their draft picks was at Bible Study and missed part of the Draft; Another entered college 2 years late because he went on a 2 year Church Mission.
The only players they have had problems with in recent years is:
Travis Henry: Low character guy having nine kids with nine women, but had a drug test that was found positive, then reversed. So he’s still low on the Broncos list of players that will not last long.
Marcus Thomas: His mistake was keeping old associations from High School and hanging out with them. Regardless of being caught with a friend that was dirty, Thomas has tried remakably to keep his nose clean and has.
David Kircus: He punched a guy and the whole thing was a mess, but Denver cut him last year before the final Court hearing. Rumor is that he’s signed with Miami. Maybe the Big Tuna likes a turd that can punch.
Darrent Williams. D Will was not charged with any crime, but he died as the result of being around the wrong people and especially at the wrong time. I think that this is a prime example of players that come form a gang enviroment and keep their connections, it’s just a bad thing to stay around those people. I believe that the death of D Will has had an imact on the Broncos, and they are looking for better leadership from the players. Guys that can’t get away from the gang enviroments aren’t wanted anymore by the NFL. The exceptions being extreme talent such as Pacman.
