A league source tells us that the Green Bay Packers are planning to release receiver Koren Robinson. The move could come as soon as today.
Per the source, the Packers hope to go younger at the position. They recently added Jordy Nelson in the 2008 draft, and the roster already features young players like Greg Jennings and James Jones.
Per the source, the team initially gave Robinson an opportunity to line up a trade, but other teams apparently have opted to wait for him to be cut.
Robinson is signed through 2008, at a base salary of $730,000.

Koren did clean his act up, and I hope he gets another shot. Of course I hope its not somewhere like New Orleans. However, I would think that a team like the Bears would love to have him, give their massive holes at WR. He might not be that former first round talent, but he could be a solid #3 for several teams.

i loved seeing koro out there in a packers uni. the guy had HUGE problems with the seachickens and lowly diquenns, and NONE with the packers. he was one of favre favorite targets too. its nice to see a guy in the nfl that has those kind of drinkin problems turn his sh!t around. more players should take a note from koro and dedicate themselves tot he game and less of themselves to being “celebrities”. i hope koren gets another chance to play the game.

Just another example of why NFL contracts are not fully guaranteed.
