That's not the point. Just about every team in the league has people on their roster convicted of some crime. Drug possession, DUI, or even worse. Take a look at some of these other "model" franchises...New England or Philly. NE DB Willie Andrews busted for possession with intent to distribute. Kevin Fault arrested for possession. Philly DT Mike Patterson busted for marijuana possession then drafting a guy with a pending felony. Washington signs Jerome Mathis after he's arrested for choking his pregnant girlfriend! Why do these others get a free pass in the media eye whereas the Cowboys, Bengals, Raiders are scrutinized for employing these types? Contrary to the message this website sends out, there are other known teams in the league willing to give these criminals a 2nd, 3rd chance outside of Dallas, Oakland, and Cincinnati. Until every team in the league takes a stand on this issue, its asinine to single out a few franchises for employing turds.

"[The Cowboys] may have taken a chance on questionable characters in Tank and Pacman"

No, they took a chance on T.O. who was a questionable character based on his destructive behavior on other teams. Doing sit ups on your lawn and implying that Jeff Garcia was gay are scummy things to do, but certainly not criminal... Tank and Pacman are criminals, not just questionable characters. So when your squad brings in those two gentleman with a history of criminal behavior in the past year, you have to live with the fact that you're the new raiders/bengals and will be linked to any other criminal who becomes available...

Anyway it'll be interesting to see how Jerry Jones new "empty the jails" philosophy works out...

ron_mexico the Cowboys haven't incurred so much as a single "turd point" since the inception of the "Turd Watch". The last Dallas Cowboy player to be arrested was Marcus Coleman (DUI) in November of '06, and he was cut within hours. I believe the last guy before that was Peppi Zellner in February of '03, but charges were dismissed. This in spite of the notorious bone the local PD has for the Cowboys. In fact a Dallas cop
got busted for solicitation of capital murder back in the 90's because he tried to have Michael Irvin killed.

Why must every questionable character be destined to be signed by Dallas? Taken directly from PFT, Dallas had ZERO turd points last year. They may have taken a chance on questionable characters in Tank and Pacman (and by the way, all things aside, TO is not a criminal), but they have a lot of solid character guys on their roster. So why is Dallas interested in all these guys? How bout Minnesota after trading the farm for multi DUI man Jared Allen, or Indy who has a supposed saint now in the middle of a shooting incident and just picked up a guy who last year had a DUI conviction? Tampa signing multiple time degenerate Jerramy Stevens? Stop associating the Cowboys for doing what the rest of the NFL is also doing. This is the modern pro sports scene. Teams (and not just Dallas contrary to what you may print) are willing to give degenerates 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances. Give it a rest.

Koren Robinson is going to be a steal for some team...the guy has talent and can be productive. He has worked extremely hard to get his life back on track, and I wish nothing but the best for him.

He says he wants to stay out of trouble? That's funny. And using the Pro Bowl as it is currently to evaluate a player is even funnier.

"This was more a sign of how strong the receiving core is than anything else."

That's like saying if I got cut from the Packers receiving _corps_ it was a sign of how strong they are...give me a break.

I'm not so sure the Eagles would be interested in him. They have their KR now and Robinson just isn't that good at WR at all. The fact that the Packers cut him definitely shows that.

Alcohol is a problem, but Koren Robinson is a guy who really works on staying sober. He went to rehab before going to Minnesota, then fell off the wagon--which is common in recovering alcoholics.

Since he has come to Green Bay, as I've heard, Brett Favre helped him (Brett knows a thing or two about substance abuse) stay sober and he hasn't been drinking.

I don't think he's a bad guy, I think he's a guy who has recovered from his problems. Now, if you put him in a situation where there isn't strong leadership, and where people in the locker-room will tempt him to fall off the wagon again, you may have some problems.

But if he were to go to the Eagles? The Buccaneers? The Bears? None of these teams have any real character issues on their team, and all have strong leaders at a couple positions that can help him stay out of trouble. The thing about Robinson is that he has said (and shown in his actions) that he genuinely wants to stay out of trouble, which makes him less of a risk for his team(s).

I personally think he'd fit best in Tampa Bay, where he could return kicks and catch balls. He's a former Pro Bowler at KR, remember.

This was more a sign of how strong the receiving core is than anything else. What's puzzling to me is why Koren did not participate in the off season program. For a guy who's trying to secure a starting position, that doesn't make sense. He owes a lot to the Packers for taking a chance on him.

First, the Bills could use another wr. Drafted 6'7" Hardy, but rookies rarely make an impact. The only problem might be that the Bills are one of the few teams that really is against bad character guys.

Also, to ZNorseman (previous poster in this thread), usually we agree that drinking is okay, as long as you dont drive. Koren drove, putting others at risk of violent, innocent injury.

Also, ZNorseman, Koren was not supposed to even be drinking at all, at any time, anywhere, under terms of his criminal probation and also probably according to the NFL policy (and also probably according to his agreement with the Vikings and maybe Seahawks). So clearly he has a problem with drinking AND making the drunken decision that he can drive while drinking.

Danger. Bad P.R. for a team if a player smacks his B up. Imagine how much worse the P.R. if a player liqours up and kills someone (or, just ask the Rams, who probably got off almost as easy as Leonard Little).

"I guess what I’m getting at here is that I think the NFL is getting a little stupid when their policies treat guys who have offenses related to drinking, the same as they treat thugs who are doing drugs, committing horribly violent acts, and literally cheating at the game by using illegal steroids."

You realize that there currently is a guy on an NFL roster that killed a woman while driving drunk, right?

The Jaguars have nine receivers currently under contract and a tendency to get burned when players mix with alcohol, I hardly think they'll add Koren to their fleet.

I look forward to the 2009 season when every available Wide Receiver isn't connected to the Jaguars...

znorseman: so, ricky williams is a "thug" because he likes his grass? but koren's not, despite the fact that his problems with alcohol led him on a highspeed chase w/ police, during which peoples' lives were at risk?

listen, alcohol is a drug. its a legal drug, but a drug nonetheless. this sort of sentiment is not only irrational, but it belittles the severity of alcoholism, which is a disease that koren's obviously been fighting.

I sincerely doubt K-Rob is heading to Chi-town. GM Jerry Angelo stated he almost didn't draft Marcus Monk in the 7th round because they were so full at the WR position. Really...he said that.

hope he does well... i liked having him as a packer, but i think they obviously made the right move here... they drafted Jordy Nelson for a reason, so it came down to cutting Robinson or Ruvell Martin, and they went with the youth... adding Nelson gave the packers viable option to return kicks, at which point Robinson became expendable. wish him all the best (unless he lands in chicago, in which case i wish him all the worst... nothing personal, koren, and hope that wherever he lands he'll have a good support system and will be able to stay clean.

With all of the guys in the league getting busted for shootings, drugs, assault, murder, ect... you'd think the league would be willing to cut some of these kids a little slack when it comes to splurging a little bit on alcohol.

Drugs, violence and steroids are one thing… but I don’t know many 20 something guys who don’t drink, and I’m sure all of us know more than one person who was busted for drinking and driving.

I guess what I’m getting at here is that I think the NFL is getting a little stupid when their policies treat guys who have offenses related to drinking, the same as they treat thugs who are doing drugs, committing horribly violent acts, and literally cheating at the game by using illegal steroids.

OrangeMachine, I hope you're not talking about the Vikings. No way Koren starts ahead of Berrian and Rice.

Only NFC North team he'd even get a chance to start would be Chicago.

Good luck in the future Koreen - the move is directly related to the strength of the Packers WR corp (he could be a starter on 2 other NFC North teams).

Newsflash! Len P has an exclusive story coming next week that KOREN ROBINSON may or may not be as he may or not be reporting EXCLUSIVLEY be cut or not for that matter by the packers.
