After receiving permission to get out of house arrest if it’s to try out for an NFL team, former Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry said he’ll be a good player and an upstanding citizen if he gets that chance.
“I think it would be better to move on to another city, a fresh start, new team, new environment,” Henry told Sporting News Radio Wednesday. “I’m really a good guy. Just got caught up in a few bad situations.”
“A few” would be a bit of an understatement for Henry, who rivals Pacman Jones for the title of longest rap sheet in the NFL. But Henry described his run-ins with the law as “little incidents.” And he added that he expects to find another team that will employ him and that he thinks NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will be understanding.
“I feel like I’m going to be fine because it ain’t what it seems and, hopefully, I can get the commissioner to see that and let him know what happened,” Henry said.
Henry named New Orleans and Dallas as places where he’d like to play, but so far neither the Saints, the Cowboys or any other NFL team has said publicly that it’s interested in Henry’s services.

Yeah, all he needs is a change of scenery. With all the distractions in Ohio and West Virginia, you can see how he’d have a “few little incidents”. He’ll be much better off if he lands in New Orleans, Dallas or Miami.

Chris Henry really is a jerk-off.
He could have been cited for many other incidents, he’s lucky he was only caught for the handful they nailed him on.

Grulks, you are someone who understand how bad these idiots are. I am a Bengals fan and I couldnt wait for them to get rid of this guy. I think Henry must have some real mental issues if he believes these were small incidents and he should get another chance. He is a bum and always will be. I hope he is pushing a broom somewhere his entire life. On second thought he wont push a broom. It will probably be crack until he goes to prison.

Yeah, just a “few bad situations” and they were “little incidents”. Playing down those things only goes to show he still doesn’t get it. If he said that he really screwed up and he’s committed to turning his life around then at least it would be some acknowledgment of his wrongdoing. Instead he doesn’t see how what he’s done is so bad, and since he can’t recognize his destructive behavior what chance does he have of stopping it.

Chris Henry is a menace to society, a true one man crime wave. He may have to serve some time in the pokey before he gets the opportunity to be suspended for another year by God-dell.

I can’t help but wonder how does Dallas’ die-hard fans (they must be die-hard because they still act like they won the Super Bowl even though they haven’t won a playoff game since 1996) feel about the Boys becoming the team of choice for all NFL turds and criminals. “America’s Team” looks like it’s on the path to becoming America’s Most Wanted Team.

Chris Henry is an alcoholic. Most of his off the field trouble involved him being drunk, and he was seen puking out of the window of a teammates’ car as the teammate was being given a sobriety test.
If he ever quit drinking he could contribute to an NFL team.

“I’d rather go root for the Jets and be perennially disappointed than to support a team with those two a-holes on it.”
I believe what you meant was 3 a-holes. Pacman, Chris Henry, annnnnddddd T.O.

The funny thing about all of this…Chris Henry is not that good of a receiver. He only received attention because of CJ and TJ. He will fade into oblivion with a new team…and then try some antics just to be noticed again.

No Dirty_Waters, “I was drunk,” is not an excuse. “I’m an alcoholic,” is not an excuse for criminal behavior.
I worked in a bar. I’ve seen drunk people act foolishly & irresponsibly, but I’ve also seen plenty of drunks not engage in criminal behavior comparable to Henry’s. I know people who would fit the definition of an alcoholic who have never been in legal trouble in their lives. Chris Henry is a turd, period.

Dude can catch a football > somebody will pay him.
We also need to make the distinction between the fine Mountaineers (Henry and Pac) and TO. I hate TO for what he did in Philly, but the guy stays coniditioned, plays hard and has never been caught with coke, hookers, guns, etc. TO’s a douchebag, but not a turd in the strict sense of the word.

No one is going to sign him because the Commish just has to be sitting back waiting to drop the hammer on his idiotic butt once he gets signed. No one signing him just makes his job easier.

Cory,
I gave T.O. some slack because his distractions weren’t based around legal problems like Tank and Pacman, but I don’t like him much either because of the way he stabbed Mcnabb and Garcia in the back. Thus far he hasn’t broken the law any, and he’s been a pretty good teammate, but I still don’t like the guy and would NEVER buy his jersey. But I don’t know that putting him in the same category as Pacman and Tank is legit.
I sort of chaulk T.O. into the spoiled narcissistic group that WR’s are so well known for (see exhibits 85, and MeShawn).
So yeah, T.O. is an a-hole too, just a different type.

Dear Mr. Goodel,
I am writing you on behalf of Chris Henry. During my time as a college teamate of his I found him to be a model citizen. I think he is simply a young man who has made a couple of poor decisions and I urge you to allow him to resume his NFL career as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Adam Jones

It’s ashame this guy can’t clean up his act, his upside and potential is tremendous. But, as usual, the downside for becoming a turd once more is too great for any team, IMO, to gamble on. Then again, Pacman the idiot was picked up by Dallas so anything is possible.

Yeah….Chris is just misunderstood.
I mean…he only pulled a gun out and threatened a couple of people on a city street in Florida wearing his damn jersey..and he was buying beer for 15 year old girls. Minor infractions…..everyone does that stuff when you’re young…right?
Somehow I don’t think Mr. Goodell is going to be as understanding as Chris thinks….
Don’t forget Tank Johnson.
