After receiving permission to get out of house arrest if it’s to try out for an NFL team, former Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry said he’ll be a good player and an upstanding citizen if he gets that chance.
“I think it would be better to move on to another city, a fresh start, new team, new environment,” Henry told Sporting News Radio Wednesday. “I’m really a good guy. Just got caught up in a few bad situations.”
“A few” would be a bit of an understatement for Henry, who rivals Pacman Jones for the title of longest rap sheet in the NFL. But Henry described his run-ins with the law as “little incidents.” And he added that he expects to find another team that will employ him and that he thinks NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will be understanding.
“I feel like I’m going to be fine because it ain’t what it seems and, hopefully, I can get the commissioner to see that and let him know what happened,” Henry said.
Henry named New Orleans and Dallas as places where he’d like to play, but so far neither the Saints, the Cowboys or any other NFL team has said publicly that it’s interested in Henry’s services.

If you enjoyed that, you should have heard Jerry Jones on NFLN talking about how he would rather be in a fox hole with a guy like Pac Man Jones who has been through some “adversity” in his life than a guy that has not had any problems. I am pretty sure there are no strip clubs in Dallas called “The Fox Hole” (although that is a great name for one!) which makes this a pretty ridiculous statement. Would Jerry want to be in a fox hole with a guy that had Pac Man’s rap sheet but not his cover skills? The bottom line is until the NFL actually does punish the teams for collecting turds, guys like Henry and Jones will continue to find employment because they are extremely talented.

New Orleans or Dallas? I can see that. Its easy to stay out of trouble in a dull town like New Orleans while Tank and Pac-Man would be good stabilizing influences should he go to the Cowboys.

I love how players who are kicked off of teams actually come out declare who’d they’d like to play for as if they are a hot commodity. He should be happy any team at all would even want to take a look at him.

I’ve only had a few little incidents too.
1. Murder (allegedly).
2. Wrongful death lawsuit.
3. FBI raids my Florida home for Direct TV Piracy.
4. A little bit of taxes owed to California.
5. that whole Vegas misunderstanding.
Hell, I think I’ll try a comeback. I’m not such a bad guy either.

Florio,
How do I get out of this cheerleader uniform?
Chris Henry will find a team, but he is going to have to take a minimun deal, no signing bonus, incentive-laden deal. His agent would want a deal with a signing bonus so the agent gets something if Henry gets in trouble again (And Henry has enough bail money).

If Dallas signs this douchebag, I’m getting rid of my Jerseys and no longer supporting this team. I am completely against Pacman being a part of this team, signing Henry would clinch it. I’d rather go root for the Jets and be perennially disappointed than to support a team with those two a-holes on it.
I don’t care how good those two have the potential to be, they’re trash plain and simple. Bringing them on board diminishes the reputation of solid people like Witten and Newman. Hell, letting them back in the league in general brings everyone else down.

If I’m not mistaken, the Commish has yet to levy any penalty against Henry for his latest run-in with the law (after which the Bengals dropped him). I’m not sure Goodell would suspend a player who is not officially signed to an NFL team. On the other hand what’s the point in letting a team sign him only to turn around and suspend/ban him. Could Henry be stuck in “no man’s land” where he’s not technically suspended but no team wants to offer a contract to a guy who the Commish will just suspend (or ban) anyway?

Let me see if I have this right.
Chris Henry, having already been given about a dozen chances, gets a phone call from a female friend, asking him to come over to her apartment complex to confront a U. of Cincinnati college student she had an argument with. She warned the male college student that her friend Chris Henry was going to come over and kick his butt! You don’t think the average male student at the U. of Cincy knows how far out on a limb Chris Henry was already sitting? He probably couldn’t wait for the chance to bait CH. Unfortunately, Henry thought attacking the guy was justified by the guy calling Henry a racial slur. That may have carried some weight about a half a dozen incidents ago.
NFL team’s interest aside, I can’t imagine Goodell letting Ohhhh(!) Henry or Packrat Jones back in the league before 2009, if not sooner, unless Jerry Jones has more influence than he should.

I’m rather unsure as why Chris Henry is oblivious to the fact that he is going to be suspended if/when he gets signed. I think he’ll be lucky to only get a year. It’s a shame really. The few times I’ve watched this guy on the field, when he was healthy, he seemed unstoppable, especially in the red zone. I can remember a game against a real good Pittsburgh defense in which he had 3 TD’s IN THE FIRST HALF. What a waste of talent? And in my opinion, all of the people that say this guy is just a #3 at best anyway, haven’t watched him play.

Some guys have an unbelievably distorted image of themselves, its quite comedic to read or listen to. I heard him babble through these statements last night on NFLN and they were just oozing with conviction. Chris Henry’s best bet for future success is impersonating a woman, he has the unisex first name and has the womanly facial features. He could be the new RuPaul! A buddy of mine works as a corrections officer in orlando where he spent some time when he was arrested last year and says Henry
looked like a little kid and scared out of his mind when placed around other inmates. How come all these wanna be tough guys like Henry always wet the bed anytime they get around the people they purport themselves to be in public and then claim how they are such great guys and wonderful people to know? Henry is a punk and a marginal WR who enjoyed success because of TJ and Johnson in cinncy and that certain Pro Bowl QB throwing to him, nothing else.

But Chris Henry is a good guy. He goes way out of his way to make sure that his date has whatever flavor juice box she wants to drink. Also he has not been arrested since he was placed on house arrest.
If Chris does get the chance to play in Dallas do you think he will room with Adam Jones for road games? They were roomies in college if I recall correctly.
