Former Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander, the 2005 NFL MVP, made the first two visits of his late-career free-agency tour this week.  And at least one of the teams remains interested.

Per the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Bengals are still talking to Alexander about possibly joining the team.

“We’ll be talking to Shaun today and in touch with [the] Bengals today or tomorrow,” agent Jim Steiner told the Enquirer on Thursday.

Alexander’s potential role in Cincinnati is a bit unclear.  Though some think he’d serve as a backup to veteran Rudi Johnson, we think there’s a chance that Alexander could displace Johnson as the starter, and likewise bounce him from the roster.

Johnson is under contract through 2009, at salaries of $3.45 million and $3.6 million, respectively, over the next two seasons.

Other running backs on the roster include Chris Perry, Kenny Iron, Kenny Watson, and DeDe Dorsey.

Alexander also has visited the Saints, but left New Orleans without a contract offer.
