Former Pats video employee Matt Walsh has turned over videotapes to the NFL. As widely believed in NFL circles, and contrary to a February 2 report from the Boston Herald, the tapes do not include images of the Rams’ walk-through practice prior to Super Bowl XXXVI.
The New York Times reports that Walsh possesses no such tape.
“Mr. Walsh has never claimed to have a tape of the walk-through,” Walsh’s lawyer, Michael Levy, said in a telephone interview. “Mr. Walsh has never been the source of any of the media speculation about such a tape. Mr. Walsh was not the source for the Feb. 2 Boston Herald article.”
Based on everything we’ve heard over the past several months, we believe that Walsh was the source.
The tapes show videotaping of defensive coaching signals, something for which the Patriots already have been punished.
Walsh is scheduled to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on May 13.

If he has no tapes, except ones showing conduct the NFL already knew about, why the several month long negotiation over immunity? You don’t ask for immunity for things you do not intend to claim.

What a large waste of time. This is drawing a great deal from the game of football.
I think this whole ordeal affected the Patriots a great amount during their SB run, and it angers me that it has happened.
But what can you do other than keep your chin up and go out and keep playing?
Go Pats.

Hey come on you genius Patriots haters……spin this one. We should all know that all teams video others to some extent. So please state your stupid case as to how the Patriots did something wrong. Oh yea…..I am a Patriots lover???? Go Bears and all the best to the team as it is set up at this time. One of two Patriots defeats in the Big One came at the hands of the Bears. I am tired of Patriot cheating geniuses, get a fuc**** clue and love the game for what it is.

I am completely and utterly shocked! Why would a completely innocent disgruntled fired criminal employee of a team go through all this only to smear his former employee who fired him, gain 15 minutes of fame, and sell his story? Why would he need indemnity (not immunity) when he was clearly causing damages to the Patriots reputation for nothing which would make excellent grounds for the Pats to turn around and sue the guy?
Sorry, Patriots haters. There was never ever going to be anything here. Walsh shot his mouth off to a few reporters never expecting to ever have his name appear in print.

I don’t think this is a waste of time at all. I feel like the NFL needs to give its due dilligence to any accusations against a franchise that’s possibly getting ill-gotten wins for unfair practices.
I’m also sure that Walsh was the source for the Ram’s workout video, but who knows if he ever did in fact claim to have it in his possession. I still think it’s an intriguing story.

Nothing new here. The Patriots have proven to the league that they don’t need these tapes, coaches change their signals constantly, there is virtually no benefit to be had from recording such signals.
Patriots haters: the super bowl wins and games won are not going away. there will not be any further penalty, stop worrying about what the Patriots have done or have not done and focus on your own teams.
Patriots lovers: stop acting like jerks, it doesn’t help and you look foolish.
Can we move on now?

This doesn’t mean they DIDN’T tape the walkthrough, just that Walsh doesn’t have/didn’t make a copy of it. There are probably many other tapes made that he doesn’t have a copy of. This is just a tiny bit of what they’ve really done over the years. So they cheated since at least 2000 and probably all along, including through all 3 Super Bowls. Yes, it’s amazing how a coach can be a genius and how a quarterback can know where to throw and where not to throw when they know what the other team is going to do. And we’re supposed to believe they had nothing to do with the radio frequencies being jammed? Yeh, they were trying to LISTEN also. Frauds. Here are their SBs: ***. Ha ha. (Watch it get swept under the rug again, though, and watch the praise continue of the so-called genius* and so-called quarterback* of the decade.)

He wanted immunity because he stole property from the New England Patriots. Walsh wanted his 15 minutes of fame, he wanted to take revenge on the Pats and smear their name, mission accomplished. The guy has lied repeatedly about everything from his resume, to his job with the team, the confidentiality agreement, he’s scum and the scandal hungry media bought his bullshit hook line and sinker. Hopefully Bob Kraft sues Mike Fish, ESPN, John Tomase, and the Boston Herald and uses the money he wins to buy every single good player available in the upcoming uncapped year. Talk about poetic justice.

spyboots,
Keep the conspiracy theories coming. Because when Goodell puts this all to rest next week and the Pats are exonerated of this media witch hunt, that will all you have left.
BTW, the Pats won most of their Super Bowl years with superior defense and offense that didn’t screw it up for the defense. How did stealing defensive signals make the Patriots have the defense that allowed the fewest points in 2003 (and had 5 defensive TDs)or give up the second fewest points in 2004. Keep reaching.
I’ll take it easy on you because I know this is a devestating day for you.

Enough with the immunity already! It is indemnity! The way Walsh shot off his mouth to Mike Fish of ESPN was enough to make him want indemnity. Everyone is talking about the lawsuit against the Herald, but I think Kraft will sue ESPN too.
Mike Fish in his article on Walsh admits he does not know what Walsh is saying is true. How can you print demafamtory information about the Patriots (in particular Ernie Adams) without verifying the source is saying is true and admit it in print. Ernie Adams and Kraft should have a pretty easy case against ESPN and Mike Fish.

What’s more important than any tape, IMO, is who and why is someone paying Levy to represent Walsh to the tune of probably $500 an hour?
If anyone in the “real” media does research they’ll see that the Levy’s former lawfirm has some direct ties to the lucrative Comcast lobby. And as we all know Comcast, the biggest benefactor of the only US Senator to literally attempt to “make this a federal case”, has a pretty signficant beef with Goodell and the NFL.
But of course very few are interested in more than the tip of the iceberg these days.

So the Pats fans think this means exoneration? That they didn’t cheat? The Pats still cheated to get TO the SBs (and probably in them as well.) How many Eagles players said it seemed as if the Pats KNEW their plays. Pats fans are just blind. But I understand. I would be too if I were a Pats fan. Ya still cheated, and we’ll probably never know the full depth. But WE know and you know, deep down, that your team cheated.
