As the investigation regarding the shooting in Philadelphia with a gun owned by Colts receiver Marvin Harrison continues, police say that Harrison isn’t a suspect.
But look carefully at the statement from police spokeswoman Tanya Little, via the Indianapolis Star: “He’s not a suspect at this point.”
The words “at this point” imply that he could be a suspect in the future. And unless it can be proven that the gun was fired by a dog, a ghost, a unicycle, or some other non-human object or thing, someone will eventually be a suspect in the case.
Some Internet hack has written an item breaking the entire situation down from a legal perspective for SportingNews.com. Our sources tell us that the article could be posted as soon as today.

I just hope he doesn’t become a “person of interest”. Dumbest term of the new millenium.

“He’s not a suspect at this point.”
Those words also imply that he may have previously been a suspect and is not now. It’s not like the police would have necessarily told us if Marvin was a suspect at any point. He may have been within the first few hours but not since for all we know.
But we all know which angle Florio would rather run with, eh?

This is freakin sad. If this was me I’d be locked up by now. They know it was his gun, thats enough to question him about who had it that night or who used it. Just sad

So lemme get this straight…Harrison gets into an arguement with a guy in Harrison’s bar. The guy ends up getting shot in the hand. A 2 year-old is cut by shattered glass coming from a second shot. Both bullets were fired from the same gun. The gun was later found hidden in a bucket at Harrison’s Car Wash. The gun is registered to Harrison. Yeah…let’s not defame him & the Colts by actually calling him a suspect. I mean, Peyton likes him, so how could he be guilty?

Alansayso, didn’t Florio graduate from West Virginia, the producer of such thugs as Chris Henry and Pacman Jones. His crusade is the equivalent of a Colorado grad going on an anti-pot mission.

I think if he was previously a suspect and isn’t now, the spokesperson would have said, “He is no longer a suspect” as opposed to what was actually said.

Every time a guys kills his family and goes on the run, the cops say “He’s not a suspect, we just want to talk to him.”

Let’s not go crazy and imply things. That would be crazy. Remember, Shitna is not saying the Lions are going to win 10 games.

How can NOT be a suspect at this point?
Unless they have the shooter, Harrison is the suspect by default.
wow, i didn’t know Polian and Goodell had this much control over everything.
And i thought the Colts playoff game officiating was horrendous….

Of course he’s not a suspect right now. The last time the police went on TV and said that a famous football player was the suspect of an investigation they ended up chasing him around the LA freeway system.

Considering the horrible marksmanship demonstrated, would it surprise anyone to find out the pistol was fired by a dog, a ghost, a unicycle, or some other non-human object or thing?

Who really knows if Harrison is a suspect or not. Wasn’t Michael Vick not a suspect in the dog fighting case for a period of time. It could be that Harrison was cleared or the Philly Police are being careful not to tip their hand or screw up the case stating Harrison is a lead suspect. Unless he has a rock solid alebeit or someone else has taken the blame or he told the police who had his gun, I don’t know how he can’t be at least an accomplise in this if he wasn’t the shooter.

How exactly does one get shot in the HAND, and i take it another shot missed and hit a windshield. Sounds like this guy was probably running AWAY from Marv, er, the shooter when the shots were being fired. Which does not sound like self-defense.

I have lived in Philly for 3 years and there is a shooting every single day and every single day, there are no suspects. Either the Philly police dont know what they are doing, they just dont care or there are too many murders to deal with.

It’s standard operating procedure for the police to say someone isn’t a suspect until an arrest is made.
As far as the bad aim goes, it’s also SOP anymore to hold a gun turned sideways. That’s they way they all do it in the movies now so that’s the way it gets done on the street. Thank goodness it does because it leads to pretty bad aim.

The police are simply gathering their facts and not jumping to any conclusions, unlike the people on here, before they make a decision. That’s what good police work is.
I don’t know if this has already been mentioned, but kudos to the guy who got shot for, if things went down the way the papers are saying they did, actually running away from Marvin Harrison. Maybe the Colts could do him a solid and invite him to mini-camp.
