Did I miss a memo? Show me one report that says Marvin did this. While you are at it, show me one report that says it was his gun that was used in this crime. I'm not even a Colts fan and some of the comments on here are starting to bother me. Do you people really think that when the police went to question him they didn't test his hands for gun shot residue? C'mon, people. This is America. You are innocent until proven guilty and Marvin Harrison has not been convicted of anything that I know of. He hasn't even been arrested. Come to think of it, the police haven't even decided if he's a suspect yet.

Did anyone call out this tool Russell on the fact that Marvin Harrison's father has been DEAD for 33 years? Throw in that little bit of information, and the rest of his already-shaky "claims" have even less validity.

Who are this idiot's sources? Miss Cleo and John Edward?

"Two America’s, Topher?? ... Take your b.s. social commentary somewhere else.

My biggest problem with this story... is how can Marvin fire six or seven rounds of a FN 50 cal and NOT KILL A MF? That’s the worst shooting I’ve ever heard of ... He should be ashamed.

I love this story. "

I love this post. Your biggest issue is that Harrison DIDN'T kill someone?!? And you lecture me on social commentary?

"p.s. to Passionate fan - who spoke of the two worlds…

you seem to justify peoples living in crime and poverty as though they had no choice. "

Not at all. I am saying there are two worlds. That is a fact no matter how badly mainstreamers want to deny it. I've lived there. There are always choices.

But there are choices and then there are choices...

Give me your wallet or I'll shoot you. You have a choice. But its not really a choice, is it?

We can argue the "facts" all day long...here is the heart of the situation...Marvin is guilty of bad judgement and this all could've been avoided if he had a BODYGUARD instead of a gun.

Let me be the first person to pre-eminently nominate Marvin Harrison (when/if, but more likely when, he is found guilty) for the 2008 Turd of the Year Award! I know the voting & ceremonies are over a half year away but anyone who would fire armour-piercing, semi-automatic rounds, wildly & inaccurately (possibly b/c he was doing so drunk, i mean he was at a bar, that he owned, free drinks), in a heavily populated urban area deserves to be thrown away and have his sixty-six million dollar contract torn up & burnt to a crisp.

Baxter- are you some sort of future-telling svant, b/c you're on the money, or at least you know where its going. The 'victim' makes out like a banshee as long as he "couldn't tell" who shot at him, accidentally barely hitting him once.

Two America's, Topher?? Nope, there's just one, always has been always will be: Ignorant people with guns and the rest of us trying to steer clear. Take your b.s. social commentary somewhere else.

My biggest problem with this story, other than the bucket, is how can Marvin fire six or seven rounds of a FN 50 cal and NOT KILL A MF? That's the worst shooting I've ever heard of. People get killed with 9mm guns every day. And he can't kill anyone with a 50? He should be ashamed.

Like I said before, few if any facts have been released by the police and again the majority of the "information" was released by the WIP announcer looking for his 15 minutes of fame and I still believe, that if half of the "information", were true, Harrison would be detained, or arrested at this point.

Matt
 - great research. certainly justifies the b.s. label on the hit story.

Facts Domino
 - fact: ballastics tests show that it was Harrison's gun.
 - fact: Harrison has said that he didn't fire any gun.
 - fact: In Pennsylvania, the owner of a weapon involved in a shooting can be charged in the crime. If police legally determine the handgun belongs to Harrison, he could be charged with at least a misdemeanor.

safe conclusion: Harrison cannot claim "self defense"
safe conclusion: Harriosn will most likely be charged with at least a misdemeanor.

Put your gangster/GTA shoes on for a minute and pretend you're supposed to walk into a bar and shoot some guy. Knowing you're walking into a gunfight, possibly outnumbered, but with the element of surprise on your side, wouldn't you get your gun ready before you walk in the door? Wouldn't you walk in guns blazing? As soon as you enter the bar, your target starts firing at you with a large caliber pistol, missing four times and hitting your hand. Wouldn't you return fire?

Although the attacker has the element of surprise, his target fires 5 shots without his attacker returning fire.

I think the other piece of info is much more relevant: some people are willing to do anything to keep Harrison from facing charges. This story was contrived by Harrison's protectors, to allow him claim self defense. Even the victim/"attacker" might collaborate this story in exchange for an undisclosed cash settlement. The reason the victims won't come forward has more to do with money than fear of retaliation. Harrison has a history of paying for stories to go away, and this is no exception.

The victim has two options:
1) Collaborate with the investigation, send an NFL star to prison, fear retaliation and get a bad rep.
2) Squeeze millions of dollars out of Harrison and the Colts in exchange for keeping quiet. Live a life of luxury, street cred and respect as a worldclass hustler.

Marvin is one dumb dumb. He has no reason to be dealing with any people that are causing trouble in his bar. He's got security at the bar, he has personal security as well. The problem here is that he lost his mind and went after this guy. He got so mad that he grabbed his gun and starting firing outside.
When anyone, and I mean ANYONE, fires a gun then and tries to hide the gun. YOU ARE GUILTY. Innocent people call the cops and/or let the cops deal with it. Which brings up another point. If the guy was such a problem, why didn't Marvin call the cops and have him removed?

The fool WILL BE GOING TO JAIL.

p.s. to Passionate fan - who spoke of the two worlds...

you seem to justify peoples living in crime and poverty as though they had no choice. YES they had a choice. They went to school...free public schools and had the opportunity to excel and move forward. They chose that lifestyle. A lifestyle of drugs, guns and thugs. I'll never feel sorry for people that live in that lifestyle then complain about it.

Yea, there are two worlds - one where people work hard to make a living, support their families, stay away from crime and help others.

Then the other where people strive for crime, hate, drugs, guns and a thug lifestyle.

Either way everyone makes their choice of where they are to live. Nothing is given, it has to be earned.

Marvin with all his cash and all his knowledge was freaking dumb to be involved. Now with the info that he tried to get rid of the gun at his own car was...it'll be the cops and the DA who'll be cleaning him.

I guess he'll get to see his dad again.

Marvin is one dumb dumb. He has no reason to be dealing with any people that are causing trouble in his bar. He’s got security at the bar, he has personal security as well.
If the guy was such a problem, why didn’t Marvin call the cops and have him removed?

The fool WILL BE GOING TO JAIL.

p.s. to Passionate fan - who spoke of the two worlds…

If Marvin Harrison was on any other team, the mainstream media would've focused on his "raging gangsta" lifestyle years ago. He should've been painted as a hi-risk off the field athlete considering how so many other athletes with lesser involvement in this sort of activity get typecast so poorly.

I wonder why this never happened? Hmmm, maybe its because the NFL's "golden boy" Peyton Manning is his quarterback. God forbid we taint the "wholesome" kingdom of Prince Peyton with his #1 receiver being "trouble". I hate Peyton Manning and everything he stands for.

Yeah, this sounds a bit odd given that his father died of genetic disease when Harrison was 2 years old.

Here's the link to an old Sporting News article - second paragraph has the info. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1208/is_50_223/ai_58360899/pg_4

Facts Dominio,

If it is true, it is doubtful Harrison would be locked up yet. This isn't television where people get arrested the next day. They need to do lab work, build a case, and present it to a grand jury before they can get an indictment on Harrison. With this being a high profile case, they may move even more slowly to avoid an OJ type trial where the police and crime lab ended up being on trial because of their quick rush to judgment and sloppy handling of the case.

Let's talk about what's REALLY important here taking into account the seriousness of the issue. How will this distraction affect Marvin in upcoming fantasy drafts? In my opinion, he should be downgraded to right below Calvin Johnson, yet still be ahead of Donald Driver considering the QB change in G.B.

Ok, Harrison might be able to make a viable case for self defense, but him being a target of hit doesn't pass the sniff test. What hitman gets into a fistfight with his target in front a bar full of people minutes before he tries to execute the hit? If Harrison was ambushed, how did he get off 5 shots to the hitman's 1? Wasn't Harrison fortunate to bring a semiautomatic pistol to his hit?

In my opinion, I believe few if any facts have been released by the police.

The majority of people have formed an opinion based on the 15 minutes of fame seeking WIP announcer.

If half of it were true, 88 would already be locked up.

This story is starting to get ridiculous, and not in a "getcha popcorn ready" way. I don't know what is more sad, that Harrison is tied to this in some way, shape or form, or that the media is so ready to pounce on the guy that they are literally running around like chickens at the first hint at gossip, just to be first in reporting something.

I'm not saying that Harrison is innocent, it's just that it bothers me that there isn't much un sensationalized news anymore.

Self defense is one thing, shooting at someone with their back turned is another. All responsible gun owners know that once the threat is withdrawing, the police are called and they take over. To continue shooting, especially in public, is reckless and makes all gun owners look like loose canons. Lastly, if you're going to shoot someone make sure your bullets hit where you intend them to. To me, 6-7 shots and all you get is the hand is a lack of poor training and practice.

Oh and everytime your gun is fired in self defense, you wait for the police to show up and explain the situation. You don't leave the scene of a crime and hide the gun at your business.

Hopefully the Marvin Harrison saga will shed light on what Mainstream America refuses to admit. There are two America's. The first is the mainstream America. Its TGI Friday's and Sprint Cell Phones and parents taking their kids to the park.

The other is an underworld of lower income with its own rules and "laws" where people are shot in the hand and refuse to say who shot them. Where if your car is stolen your best bet is to ask around and not call the police. Where drugs aren't something that is good or evil, their a short term income. Where good and evil don't exist, only survival does.

Regardless of what happens to the Marvin Harrison storyline America needs to be aware of the environment. America needs to be aware of the grey area that exists. Most importantly America needs to take a hard long look at this underworld and ask themselves why.

If a pistol owned by Marvin Harrison can be fired at (an)other human being(s) then what else is possible? Why would this happen? Why wouldn't he leave that life behind?

Its the "whys" that need explored even more than the "whats"

I'm shocked Marvin Harrison's father is incarcerated...if I had NFL money I'd have a team of lawyers working on getting my dad out of jail...

Of course, I don't know why he's incarcerated...could be something where there's no way out.

So the guy goes to "wack" Harrison, is confronted with gunfire, but doesn't even pull a gun?
That guy is just fishing for ratings.

Self-Defense is one thing, but unless you're certain someone is out to harm you and you're acting in response to that action you can't go and take the law into your own hands, if you expect a pre-eminent attack on yourself or family it's your responsibility to take that to the law and have them handle it so as to avoid this type of situation.

In terms of people “people who are willing to do whatever is necessary”, does this really even matter? If the D.A. sees unlawful action from Harrison's side he can press chargers in the name of the Government.

This is starting to make more sense now. Without knowing more
info. it is difficult to conject. However if Harrison is able
to articulate that he felt his life was in danger he has a
right to protect himself. It is often said that it is better
to be tried by 12 people than carried by six people.
