Former Illinois running back Rashard Mendenhall was drafted last month by the Steelers. And Mendenhall likely is anxious to move to Pittsburgh, pronto.
Mendenhall was robbed at gunpoint on Monday in Chicago, according to the Sun-Times. He surrendered his phone, cash, and wallet.
“It was obviously a scary moment,” his agent, Mike McCartney, told the Sun-Times. ”But he is fine. He is doing great. He said he doesn’t have anything that is worth his life.”

He grew up in the suburbs. Its no surprise he has no street smarts. Too bad he pulled his hammy earlier in the week or he could have run away….. as long as Justin King wasn’t chasing him.

To RoninCharlotte:
I spent a week in Charlotte one day. The only decent people there are the ones from the North who moved South. The native citizens are Rednecks still fighting the Civil War.

Thanks, PhillyWest2.

Based on the 2006 FBI Uniform Crime Reports (the most reputable source I know after taking a whopping 1.0 credit of Criminology years ago) states:
Robberies Population Rate
Chicago 15,863 2,857,796 0.00555
Pittsburgh 1,722 324,604 0.00530″
The only reason I knew the Chicago robbery numbers is because I committed 15,862 of the 15,863.
The only reason I missed the last one was because the wife wanted me to spend Christmas day with our kids. The woman is soooooooo unreasonable.

I agree with Brian_21:
“My guess is Mendenhall was doing nothing bad.”
I don’t think Mendenhall was doing anything bad as well. But there are better places to not be doing anything bad than a desolate stretch of Chicago lakefront at 2 o’clock in the morning.
BTW, how do you become a “Division Champ”? I busted my butt to go from “Cheerleader” to “Passionate Fan”. Who do I have to [perform an oral sex act on a bottle of champagne while hanging out with a bunch of guys} to get to “Division Champ”?

“If I were the Steelers, the question I would ask is “Why was Mendenhall where he was at the time he was?”
Don’t you remember what it was like to be 20 years old? You do a lot of stupid things. You think you know everything and you’re bulletproof. Around the time you’re 30 (hopefully) you realize you didn’t know what you were doing.

Sorry Jeezy, Jimmy Hoffa had an alibi - he was at the Jets mini camp (well, six feet below it anyway).

If he had a gun, he would have been safer. The problem is he didnt, and he especially was down there in the wee wee hours. Where it is more likely he would run into some bad folk. Just being down there at that time of night is the bigger problem.
