Here’s a look at the 49ers’ minicamp, in One-Liner fashion . . . .
Although LB Patrick Willis makes calls in the defensive huddle, coach Mike Nolan is experimenting with having safeties wear the helmets with radio receivers.
Willis is expected to become more of a leader with the departure of veteran linebacker Derek Smith.
Nolan is also playing music from NFL Films during practice.
OT Jonas Jennings doesn’t want to talk about his switch from the left side to the right.
DE Bryant Young has retired but he hasn’t cleaned out his locker.
Says TE Vernon Davis of the quarterback competition between Alex Smith and Shaun Hill, “May the best man win. I love both those guys.”
Rookie LB Larry Grant credits his older brother with preparing him to become a pro athlete.
Says RB Frank Gore of his role in new coordinator Mike Martz’s offense, “I want to show people that I can do it all — run, catch, block. A lot of people feel that I’m just a running back.”
After minicamp, Gore will head to Miami for a month and then return for organized team activities on June 2.
Smith, who turns 24 Wednesday, thinks Martz is giving him a clean slate.

I just hope this once proud franchise can recover from “TamperGate”, but sadly, everyone in the public now looks at them as cheaters.

the only reason people remember tampergate at this point is because people like you still bring it up. in the end, the bears cheated the niners out of a draft pick and lance briggs out of leverage ($$$).

Their whole season is hinging on Gore and quality play out of the QB spot. Shaun Hill has looked better in spurts than Alex Smith and that will be the biggest competition thi summer for SF.

haha, now it was the BEARS that cheated?!? Gimme a break. The 49ers have a long history of cheating going back at least to the late 80’s. How can anybody forget the salary cap cheating that they did with multiple contracts in the 90’s? Remember how Eddie DeBartolo and Carmen Policy used to be so proud that the 49ers could attract top free agents for less money than they could have gotten from other teams?
Well now we know why they were able to do that, don’t we?
