Here’s a look at the 49ers’ minicamp, in One-Liner fashion . . . .

Although LB Patrick Willis makes calls in the defensive huddle, coach Mike Nolan is experimenting with having safeties wear the helmets with radio receivers.

Willis is expected to become more of a leader with the departure of veteran linebacker Derek Smith.

Nolan is also playing music from NFL Films during practice.

OT Jonas Jennings doesn’t want to talk about his switch from the left side to the right.

DE Bryant Young has retired but he hasn’t cleaned out his locker.

Says TE Vernon Davis of the quarterback competition between Alex Smith and Shaun Hill, “May the best man win. I love both those guys.”

Rookie LB Larry Grant credits his older brother with preparing him to become a pro athlete.

Says RB Frank Gore of his role in new coordinator Mike Martz’s offense, “I want to show people that I can do it all — run, catch, block. A lot of people feel that I’m just a running back.”

After minicamp, Gore will head to Miami for a month and then return for organized team activities on June 2.

Smith, who turns 24 Wednesday, thinks Martz is giving him a clean slate.
