In 2005, Rams exec Samir Suleiman made news in a most unwanted way. Angered by comments attributed to an unnamed source in a column written by Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Suleiman left a voice message for Miklasz, inviting him to tell his source, “I’m a f–king throat-slasher.” (Kellen Winslow still prefers his version.)
Suleiman’s name is back in the news, but not because he has made any new threats. Instead, he’s receiving serious consideration for a job with the Raiders, who are looking for a capologist and contract negotiator.
“It’s a great organization, so anybody would be lucky to work for them,” Suleiman told David White of the San Francisco Chronicle. “And, black is my favorite color.”
Suleiman, if hired, would take the lead in negotiating the contract of running back Darren McFadden, the No. 4 overall pick in the draft. Suleiman also would be charged with getting the Raiders’ salary cap in order.
According to White, the Raiders dumped running back Dominic Rhodes earlier this week because the draft-day trade of cornerback Fabian Washington nearly put them over the per-team $116 million spending limit.

When I read the title to this story, I was under the impression that Ray Lewis somehow landed on the Raiders.

Maybe the Raiders are looking for someone to help with roster ‘cuts’ come preseason.

Threatening to slash someone’s throat certainly would be an effective negotiating tactic. I hope your insurance is paid up, Darren.

So let me see if I understand this correctly… Raider go out, spend all kind of money on people (i.e Javon Walker), get themselves in trouble with cap room prior to the draft, THAN, go and draft one of the most talented backs in college (with a top 5 pick may I add), realize they are in trouble and probably will not be able to afford McFadden AND THAN go fond someone to straighten their mess out…
If I was Samir I would tell them to shove it… But on the positive note…good for the Raiders…hopefully this will straighten them out…Maybe they will start using the QB they spent a ton of money on…
