In addition to the contract details compiled by Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News, a league source tells us that Cowboys cornerback Pacman Jones received $100,000 of his $700,000 base salary for 2008 as an advance.
The development makes the source wonder whether Jones is broke.
Or it could be that Jones wanted a signing bonus, and that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wanted to retain the ability to attempt to get the money back later, if Jones isn’t permitted to return to the NFL in 2008.
Regardless, Jones has 100 large more than he had a week ago. And there’s a good chance that, as of this morning, that number is considerably smaller.

Free the PacMan from this cauldron of negativity… So he’s been involved with some minor proclivities… Everyone has turned this compassionate artful player into a pariah especially in the eyes of the commissioner… He would have been better served to be a roving reporter of adult entertainment dance routines for Howard Stern on Sirius radio… I’m sure that his eminence Jerry Jones, will make sure the PacMan’s mind is on Dallas Cowboys football and not on strip clubs in Dallas/Ft. Worth… So I assume he’ll always be a welcome guest in the Dallas White House with lots of feminine companionship eager to please his mind while concentrating on the elaborate defensive schemes in the playbook. Pacman Jones actually worked for TNA Wrestling, not World Wrestling Entertainment.
But, considering the cost of the attorneys that he has had to hire for his various legal cases, I imagine the $100K advance will come in handy.

No surprise here. Nashville fans have been hearing these rumors about Adam Jones for some time…..property in foreclosure, big-ticket purchases being repossessed, etc.
I find it rather surprising that the Cowboys were allowed to give him an advance, considering his suspended-without-pay status.
