Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden has gotten one step closer to his goal of having an entire roster made up of nothing but quarterbacks.
Former Nebraska quarterback Sam Keller, who was not selected in last weekend’s draft, is heading to Tampa today to participate in the Bucs’ rookie minicamp.
Keller will be one of two rookie quarterbacks at the minicamp, alongside Josh Johnson, whom the Bucs drafted out of San Diego in the fifth round on Sunday. Keller is most likely just a camp arm to help with passing drills, but if he shows some potential, is there any doubt that the quarterback-collecting Gruden will want him back for training camp?
“If it doesn’t work out, I’ll then go to the Arena League,” Keller said.
The Bucs also have quarterbacks Jeff Garcia, Brian Griese, Luke McCown, Bruce Gradkowski, Chris Simms and Jake Plummer under contract.

What about Brett Favre, Vinny Testaverde, Daunte Culpepper, Tim Couch, Akili Smith? Why stop at 8 Qbs.

Gruden is going to debut his diabolical master plan…
A playbook made up of 5 quarterbacks, who can continue to pass and lateral to each other until michael clayton can finally get open to drop a TD pass.

The Bucs QB situation is like a bad joke. Keller got destroyed by Texas’ ‘D’ in the Holiday Bowl so he may be looking at an Arena career sooner than later.

I think he’s just trying to have all the QBs in the league under contract until the final cut date when he will choose 5 and let all the others go. This way, all the other teams in the league will be stuck with ex-Bucs who don’t learn the playbook until week 9, giving the bucs 8 easy wins.

This was odd in the beginning, but now it has just become comical. Just think of the yardage a hook and ladder play could gain between Favre and Culpepper…40yds down field, 40yds back, 70 down field…

Upon Further Review…
Chucky knows what he is doing… His lovely wife knows where he isa t all times… The Glaziers know that their leveraged investment of Manchester United, F.C. in the U.K. is valued at $1.8 Billion… So Gruden can do as he damn pleases and life is good on the gulf coast!
Please wine and dine Jake ‘The Snake’ Plummer back into football!

C’mon Chucky, let’s do it.
An All-QB roster.
53 QB’s.
No one has ever seen that kind of line-up before.

So if Brian Billick gave himself a “Genius Card”, does the mean we give Gruden an Insanity Card”? Or perhaps that should be a “Clutching at Straws” card…..

Wow… the Viking fans still think they got a good deal? The Bucs were never really interested in Jared Allen. Bruce Allen and Carl Peterson are buddies and Bruce did Carl a favor by pretending to be interested so the Chiefs could rob Minnesota blind.
Jared Allen is a good player, but not worth what they gave up for him, and what they are paying him. If he has another 15+ sack year, maybe you can talk, but it still was not worth it.
As for QB’s, Jake Plummer needs to stop being mentioned in conjunction with the Bucs. He never showed up, and it has been well over a YEAR now. Please stop. Gradkowski and Simms almost are out, and this Keller guy is obviously just coming in to throw to receivers who are trying out. That leaves 5 QB’s for training camp, but don’t be surprised if Gruden keeps 4 on the regular season roster.

Gee, giving up all those picks for Jared Allen AND forking over the largest contract of any DE in football is a good thing for the Vikes? How can a team justify giving up what they did for Allen and pay him a contract that he would have never seen had he been a free agent? That makes no sense.
Sounds like Buc-envy to me, Bucs have 8 QBs, Vikes have none…

I love how all the Bucs fans are getting in their comments before nap time and after bible study. Quite possibly the weirdest fan base in all of sports… Elderly bible bangers unite!!
We’ll see what happens when the Vikes roll into Tampa this season.. You better keep all those QB’s, Jared and the Williams boys might go through all of em!

Ericfay81, “you would be sick to your stomach if your team started any one of those guys”? Garcia was a pro-bowler last year, your team wouldn’t happen to be the Colts or Pats would it? Because most fans of their teams would love to have a Pro Bowl QB on the field.

Who is Keller’s agent, if he’s got one he should be fired. You’re telling me he didn’t get any other camps offers from the other 31 teams? Tampa is the last place a Free Agent QB should sign.
I would think that QB hungry teams, like the Vikes, KC, or Chicago would give him a shot in camp. Not saying he would stick, but better shot than TB.

Brasho:
Jeffrey Jason Garcia (born February 24, 1970 in Gilroy, California)
That would make him 38 years old for those of you who don’t excel in mathematics.
And he made the Pro Bowl due to injury if I remember correctly…

You have me scared damje311 (well, maybe you do, I just won’t be on the road that night since Jared is in town), again who is your starting QB? Oh, Tevaris Jackson. Tevaris= field day for the Bucs. You Vikings fans need to wake up and start dreaming. You’re the only people that brag that you got Jared Allen. No other team would have traded so much for him.
