When the Bengals picked linebacker Ahmad Brooks in the third round of the 2006 supplemental draft, some began calling it the “turd round.” Between Brooks (who had issues with marijuana in college at Virginia) and Frostee Rucker (a third-rounder in April 2006 who had allegations of assault follow him to the NFL) and Chris Henry (a third-rounder in 2005 about whom any football fan knows plenty), the Bengals had made the third time something other than a charm.
Brooks, however, never got into any trouble with the Bengals. Until now.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, a Kentucky woman claims that Brooks punched her in the face on April 9. He has been summoned to appear in Court on June 6 to answer the charges.
Destiny Rosich contends that Brooks was arguing with one of her neighbors, outside the neighbor’s home. Rosich claims that Brooks at one point told the neighbor that he would “split his head open.”
Rosich then approached Brooks and asked him to “take it someplace else.”
Wrote Rosich in her criminal complaint: “He then pulled back his fist and struck [punched] me in the left eye. I then fell and blacked out.”
After regaining consciousness, he called 911 and was taken to a local emergency room.
Brooks hasn’t been arrested, yet. The hearing on June 6 likely will result in a decision as to whether any charges will be pursued.
Brooks landed on injured reserve in 2007 due to a foot injury. He played in only the first two games of the season, starting both of them.

As many times as Chris Henry got in trouble, he was falsely accused 2-3 times before he was finally cut a few weeks ago. (Even the guy who he got in a fight with was arrested last week for being the same type of douchebag and inciting Henry like he did in the first place. Henry should’ve been cut a long time ago and shouldn’t have been at the club, but there are lots of people targeting these guys.
As for Brooks, this story has so many holes it doesn’t make sense. It happened on 4/9 and just reported? AFTER you regained consciousness, you grabbed your children and ran inside. I’d like to hear that “incoherrant” 9-1-1 call.
I believe this story is false. I’ve been wrong before, but it doesn’t make sense.

What? That isn’t how you handle an argument with a woman as an NFL player?

Yea, a 6′4 265 lb man punched a woman in the face on April 9th in the front yard and its been hush until May?
Maybe its because I’m in Cincinnati but that sounds like another allegation that will amount to nothing.
I was looking forward to Rivers,Thurman & Brooks.

This article doesn’t not say ANYWHERE he was arrested. Someone filed a complaint that is filled with things that do not make sense. It’s really not fair to treat this situation differently just because this dude plays for the Bengals. Now, if it does turn out to be true they better release his him.

11 indicted. 5 convicted
(Yes its an old joke, but its not my fault that it’s been accurate for the Bengals for the last 5 years or so)

Someone needs to sit young Mr. Brooks down and explain to him that he’ll never earn the respect of his Bengals teammates by slapping a woman around. No, to do that he’ll have to sever her head or beat her while she’s pregnant.

“This article doesn’t not say ANYWHERE he was arrested.”
Nice double-negative, but you’re right, it plainly says he hasn’t been arrested yet. That doesn’t mean he won’t be. It also doesn’t mean he will be. However, it’s completely within Mr. Florio’s province to report the complaint was filed.
He’s not convicting anyone, he’s simply reporting that yet another Bengal is having a run-in with the law.
Considering the recent history of this team, it’s certainly newsworthy to report such an event. Your opinion that the story is false is incorrect. There really is a complaint being filed against Brooks. Whether the event that transpired actually happened does not bear any weight right now on the fact a complaint was filed.

Too many discrepancies to pronounce judgment on Brooks at this point. If true, he’s obviously a dirtbag and he’s history. But, as of now, this could just be some psychological trainwreck looking for her fifteen minutes- or thousand dollars.

hmmmmmm. You know, as a lifelong Bengals fan none of this either surprises or angers me any more. I’m kind of numb to it and I feel like I’m reading an O.Henry (Not the Bengals receiver) version of an NFL team that can’t get out of its own way.
How f’n tough is it to stay at home and not get in trouble? I jeez, I don’t even have a posse and I can buy a case of beer on a Friday night, order a pizza and not have gunplay involved.

MP45242, Northern KY is more racially tolerant than Cincinnati proper. Take it from someone who live in Florence, home of the Cincinnati Airport (don’t ask). I just goes to prove the old saying. “You can’t polish a turd”.
