When the Bengals picked linebacker Ahmad Brooks in the third round of the 2006 supplemental draft, some began calling it the “turd round.”  Between Brooks (who had issues with marijuana in college at Virginia) and Frostee Rucker (a third-rounder in April 2006 who had allegations of assault follow him to the NFL) and Chris Henry (a third-rounder in 2005 about whom any football fan knows plenty), the Bengals had made the third time something other than a charm.

Brooks, however, never got into any trouble with the Bengals.  Until now.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, a Kentucky woman claims that Brooks punched her in the face on April 9.  He has been summoned to appear in Court on June 6 to answer the charges.

Destiny Rosich contends that Brooks was arguing with one of her neighbors, outside the neighbor’s home.  Rosich claims that Brooks at one point told the neighbor that he would “split his head open.”

Rosich then approached Brooks and asked him to “take it someplace else.”

Wrote Rosich in her criminal complaint:  “He then pulled back his fist and struck [punched] me in the left eye.  I then fell and blacked out.”

After regaining consciousness, he called 911 and was taken to a local emergency room.

Brooks hasn’t been arrested, yet.  The hearing on June 6 likely will result in a decision as to whether any charges will be pursued.

Brooks landed on injured reserve in 2007 due to a foot injury.  He played in only the first two games of the season, starting both of them.
