The Cowboys likely would have cut LB Akin Ayodele in training camp if they hadn’t traded him to the Dolphins.
Giants QB Eli Manning had a 25-minute meeting with President Bush.
The Dolphins waived QB Matt Baker three months after signing him.
Said Hall of Fame lineman Jackie Slater of the Patriots drafting his son, “I just can’t tell you how good it made me feel.”
Contract negotiations between the Titans and DT Albert Haynesworth are at a standstill.
Raiders RB Dominic Rhodes says when he restructured his contract this off-season, he knew the Raiders would cut him if they drafted Darren McFadden.
Says Eagles G.M. Tom Heckert of sixth-round pick Andy Studebaker, “Nobody ever heard of this kid, but then his workout started popping up on You Tube and next thing you know, he got super hot.”
Giants GM Jerry Reese has learned in the last couple months that, “if you win a Super Bowl, then people start saying you’re smarter than you really are.”
The Bears could be interested in one of the quarterbacks who doesn’t make the Buccaneers’ roster. [Editor’s note: But not Brian Griese.]
Says Purdue coach Joe Tiller of his former tight end, Jets first-round pick Dustin Keller, “His first couple years, he wouldn’t block Molly Putz. He was allergic to blocking, but he improved as he got older.”
The Ravens are looking to add big receivers.
The Packers will have a training camp battle at long snapper.
The Steelers say they drafted Dennis Dixon as a quarterback and have no plans to move him to wide receiver.
Is there a danger of unrealistic expecations among Vikings fans?
Texans rookie LT Duane Brown probably won’t be ready to block Colts DE Dwight Freeney as a rookie.
The Falcons have learned their lesson and won’t tie their marketing campaigns to one player.

Maybe the Ravens will take Matt Jones for Ed Reed.

Viking fans definitely need to cool it. If they were to be sent two Jared Allens it wouldnt put the Vikings over the Cowboys, Packers or Giants. Tarvaris Jackson is NOT a good NFL QB, he has an 11/16 TD-INT ratio and if teams can just put 10 in the box and just stop the run, no amount of defensive sacks will score touchdowns for them.

Tom Powers is a buzzkill. Just let us Vikings fans enjoy something for once before clomping all over it.

Good god, yes there is definitely a danger of unrealistic expectations. I’m as happy as the next guy about our off season but the Vikings need to worry about winning the division or at least making the playoffs before us fans can start talking about the Super Bowl. Its unreal how many people here think we are a lock for the big game. Calm down fellow Vikings fans, lets take it one step at a time.

The story about Vikings fans made me really angry. That’s from Tom Powers of the Pioneer Press. I could see his point. But, what a buzz kill.

Great, Bush talks to Eli for a half an hour - things must be going so well in the country that he has that kind of time to waste on Opie.

Albert Haynesworth has the Titans by the short and curlies. That D-line is poo-poo when he’s not a part of it.

How depressing it is to be from Philly. Kevin spent 10 freaking minutes writing one post…but, it probably took him that long to type all those words.

Also, you need to realize that Minnesota Sports fans in general haven’t had a lot to cheer about in the last 20 years. There hasn’t been a League Championship in any of the major professional sports since 1991. I think that has a little something to do with the excitement. We just like to see our teams improving.

Hmmm… Baltimore wants big receivers now? Didn’t the 100 mil$ drama queen in Pitt. also want (and got) a “big receiver” coming off of last year?
It seems pretty ironic that divisional teams want what the Browns have. In a copy cat league maybe the Division’s actions are speaking a lot louder than their words, in terms of who they think are on top???

The coolest story? Not that Eli Manning 25 minute meeting with the Prez a few years back .. but the Green bay Packers’ long-snapping duel! May the best man win. My $ is on the 22 year old. We’ll see.

Amazing how a team that didn’t make the playoffs last year can suddenly become a legitimate Super Bowl contender in some people’s eyes. I say good luck trying to win your own division. Your QB situation is about as good as Chicago’s, but for some reason people tend to ignore it. Realism is apparently incredibly overrated.
