So now that the 2008 draft has come and gone, the NFL’s equivalents of H&R Block now have nothing to do until next year, when people start paying attention to them again.

But some of them want more attention now.  And so Todd McShay of ESPN has cobbled together his first mock draft for next year.

We’ve printed McShay’s mock draft, laminated it, and put it in the drawer right next to the official PFT desktop.  Next April, we’ll whip it out and thoroughly inspect it.  (We’ll also look at McShay’s mock draft.)

The point of this otherwise pointless entry, however, is that the guy whom McShay thinks will go No. 1 overall — defensive tackle Fili Moala of USC, to the Falcons — is already preparing for life in the NFL.

By getting arrested.

Just last month, Fili was pinched for allegedly resisting and obstructing an officer who responded to a (you guessed it) bar fight.

Reached by the media on his cell phone, Moala said, “It’s an important event, but it’s being dealt with in-house.  We’re well aware of it.”

We assume that you’re well aware of it, Fili, since you were the one who squeezed that six-five, 295-pound frame into the back of a squad car.
