My God you Brett NAY-SAYERS are rediculous. You all sound like all the Play-by-play guys during the Packers losing season. I can't imagine you guys were all upset when Brett was throwing touchdowns last year. And as far as the NFC Championship game Brett didn't lose that with an interception. If memory serves Eli was picking us apart with Plaxico. If we would've stopped even half of those pass plays it certainly would've been a different game. I don't know Brett at all, but I gotta imagine if he could've he would have waited till training camp to make a decision.I gotta tell you though all the speculative chat on here about trades sans-sarcasm sounds even more goofy then the articles they're commenting on. If Brett would've gotten hurt in the first game of last season we probably would not have gotten to the playoffs. I would love to see him return for another season. This is the decision of a lifetime. ( lets see do I play one more year or do I retire and leave a job that has been the focal point of my life for 20 plus years?) sounds like an easy decision HUH?

hopefully that happens and someone will want to pay way to much for him ala ahman green. drive the price way up and see if you get any takers. what will the packers have to lose. it is obvious if farve did come back it wouldnt be to play with the packers or he would be here now.

It's the Media Stupid!

When will fans realize that as long as the media keeps digging for more, asking what do you thing from people who know Brett, that this will become a topic. He's done - period. He had his fun on Letterman, everyone knows he's a practical joker and was kidding around with Letterman.

I suppose somebody, when they start getting thin at contacts, they'll go to Buckley, Don Majkowski, Sharpe, etc. Seems it's already started with asking Butler.

Why are you people ripping on Brett for this? Butler's the moron who's out there talking about him coming back. All Brett ever said is that he's going to miss it once training camp starts (on Letterman), and people blew that out of proportion too. I've lived in Green Bay all my life, and I can tell you this: Favre is retired. He's not coming back. He's never said he would come back. He said it would be tempting if the Packers begged him, but that has more to do with his loyalty to the Packers than anything else. He has said several times that he would never consider playing for another team. On another note, has anyone out there read LeRoy Butler's autobiography? The guy must have an IQ of about 50. Butler's a good guy, but he's an idiot. Don't believe crap you hear from him. If the media would just shut up about it, it would all go away.

Okay, here's the deal...Favre has said he is retired. He did say on Letterman that "...something is bound to happen..." He has a history of playing mind games with the media, and consequently, Packers fans. Until he speaks the words "I AM COMING BACK and/or NO LONGER RETIRED" he is retired. The Packers have placed him on the retired-reserved list, so it is my understanding that they retain his rights, and that unless he reports for is it 1/4 or 1/2 of the season (not sure, might be niether) they retain his rights and he does not get credit served under his contract. I think if he wants to play again, he should say as much, and the Packers should oblige him by doing one of two things: First, they should trade him. To whom, I am undecided, but they should reasonably ask for some pretty steep compensation. He will only agree to be traded to a contender, so even a 1st round pick is not too steep a price to ask, maybe more. Second option, it's clear the Packers are unsold (as am I) on Aaron Rogers...Why draft two viable QBs in the draft unless they anticipate Rogers will struggle. Could they then trade Rogers? Brohm is, in my opinion, the franchise QB of the future in Green Bay. Rogers' performance in Dallas last year notwithstanding, he is injury prone, hs is a Jeff Tedford student, and he really looks like a backup NFL QB...Brohm may not be a Favre but he looks to me more like an NFL QB than Rogers...I would even say that Matt Flynn (God, don't strike me for saying this as I am the loudest anti LSU voice in the state of Louisiana) is at the same level of talent that Rogers is...at least close. Could GBP go Favre-Brohm-Flynn/somebody else then putting Flynn on the practice squad...who knows, but ultimately, Favre needs to say something and say it soon. He has never put the team ahead of his career decisions, and to some extent, he has earned the right. This time, it would be in his best iterest, as well as the interest of the team to SAY ANYTHING...(maybe Mooch will dress up in a trenchcoat and stand outside the Favre property in Hattiesburg holding a boombox above his head playing some 90's angst-anthem hoping Brett will hear it and come running back to GBP.)

the best fit for brett is the eagles.

-They have a heavy-set coach similar to his mentor "big show" holmgren.
-They run the west coast offense
-passionate fans
-natural grass surface
-speed receivers
-lights out defense
-improved special teams with desean jackson

Im salivating right now, imagining farve throwing deep fly patterns to kevin curtis & desean jackson.

Kevin Kolb would gladly step aside and warm the driver's seat for farve and give his old #4 back.

As for Mcnabb ship his whiney woe is me attitude far away to some afc team like kansas city.

-Farve would become a legend like Rocky in Philadelphia, he could also sign many endorsement deals with cheesteak shops and get a nice house on the main line in Villanova.

-The Eagles could give his daughters free tuition at any big 5 schools, his wife could get setup with another book deal, and farve could get a job at WIP.

If Brett truly wants to come back, who cares. Let him compete for a job (which he would probably get) but make him earn it, just like every other member on the team. Remember, this is a team sport. Don't let him piss you off, though, that is just for TT's benefit.

As for those of you talking of him going to a dome team...um...this is Brett Farve. Have you seen his record in domes? That wont happen.

The only way TT can trade him without being the villain is for Brett to be RETIRED. The only way Brett can go elsewhere without being the villain is to be traded. Therefore, his rights will be traded while he is retired. Then the new team will make a show of offering him a blockbuster deal to come back out of retirement. It has to be a WARM WEATHER or DOME team that runs the WCO. And needs a QB. I'm thinking Buccaneers.
I could've seen the Texans, if Mike Sherman was still there. Although I suppose it's still a possibility.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him sign with Chicago. Imagine the media buzz and attention that would garner. Seems like he craves attention; nothing would get him more attention than playing for the Bears.

If he did show up in November and the team didn't want him, who says their only options are to release him or trade him? They could always welcome him back by parking him on the bench.

Why is this story even still alive? Have we tried shooting it in the brain yet? ZOMBIE FAVRE: THE STORY THAT WOULD NOT DIE.

Enough. Honestly, have we had enough? Ya know. Just sayin..

LeRoy Butler was the sh*t though. They're obviously reaching when THAT'S you're source. We should applaud a guy who fishes with a question and gets a sound bite, but c'mon already. Green Bay is LOADED with young talent and nobody's talking about them. Most people on this board have already crowned the Vikings the Divisional Champs in '08. I'm not so sure. But can we just friggin' cool it with this crap already? Talk about Cullen Jenkins or Atari Bigby who are ballers. Talk about a receiving corps that is deeper than Christy Canyon. Talk about Ryan Grant and where he falls on your fantasy board, cuz he 'blowed up' last year. Or speak the unspeakable and whisper the name Aaron Rodgers (like he's friggin Voldemort or something). He's the guy. And even if he's just mediocre in a system he has been running for years, there is enough talent around him to push deep into the playoffs. Talk about ANYTHING else with this team but Brett Favre. We've had enough, no?

Jennings to the Eagles. Yea, right LOL, keep dreaming.

No way Brett would go play for Chicago, Minny or Detroit, but Minny would make the most sense as he would only come back to play for a contender, and Minny is the closest team team to being a contender that just lacks a QB. Why would he come back to play for Buffalo or New York? To see if he can win six games?? No way.

As I've said before, Brett does his fair share of keeping these rumors alive by dropping stupid little open-ended comments but the media deserves its fair share of blame, as every little non-development in this saga gets headlines on this site and foxsports.com and everywhere. If the media would stop blowing things out of proportion this would go away. I really don't think that Favre is calling every newspaper and newschannel in the country willing to listen to him just so they will run something about him

He is truly going about this the wrong way.

A deal should be done quietly.

This reminds me of a 8 minute wait at McDonalds, being the second guy in line (by this time) and the blond in front of me looking at the menu like she's never seen it before.

If you want waffles, go somewhere else.

I blame Steve Mariucci for this.

"We all want you to come back Brett, every football fan loves you and wants to see play until you're 80!"

No, Steve. We don't.

I would GLADLY accept Brett Favre back to this team... if I go could back in team and convince him not to do that press conference and media bonanza that ensued.

You can't undo the damage you've done...

He should have waited until the draft, or even until May or June to announce his decision.

Brett Favre - Master of the untimely interception, and the untimely career decision.

It's not Favre's fault that THE MEDIA WONT LET IT DIE. Let alone Butler, who has a history of shooting his mouth off and starting unsubstantiated rumors.

Favre shouldn't be faulted because others can't shut up about it.

If the man wants to come back, then let him come back without acting as though he's violated some trust. People make mistakes. He's still under contract with the Packers, if he wants to play they're obligated to either pay him to do it (or to do nothing) or to let him take his services elsewhere. I think he should play as long as he wants, and as long as someone will pay him (same with any player) because once it's really over, there's nothing else he'd be able to do that even remotely compares.

Maybe Farve hasn't turned in his papers because he's waiting for the Packers to release their rights to him. I mean, they are the ones forcing him out anyway, so what's the problem? Right now, the ball is in Farve's court. He can simply not turn in his papers and then show up for training camp and they have to either cut him, or keep him. If they cut him, he could sign on wherever he wants. It doesn't sound like they want him back, and it seems like the Packers organization is trying to force a legend like Farve to retire, which is a heck of a lot more punk than Farve playing for a different team.

So why not let him go to another team that has a legit shot at winning a Super Bowl? Sure, Packer fans would hate it, but other than that, why not? You put a guy like Brett Farve on a team, like, let's say, the Vikings... and that equals a Super Bowl.

Wouldn't it be ironic that the Monday night game when the Packers are supposed to be retiring Farve's jersey, that he's on the other sideline suited up to play for the Packers nemisis. Oh, what sweet, sweet irony that would be. lol

I NEVER understood why he retired! Sure, Brett Favre messed up that game against the New York Giants badly, but he clearly has the skills to play. If I'm not mistaken, he was either going to the Pro Bowl or going to be the starter for that acclaimed roster, and deservedly so.

But, he did say he was retiring and had that highly emotional press conference where everything said seemed genuine.

My prediction, which, as people have been finding out about my foresight ... ain't that bad :)

HE is DONE

The blatant disrespect toward Brett on this thread is ridiculous. He still can play and it does nothing to his leagacy if he were to change his mind. If the Packers don't jump for joy if he decides to return, then TT should be run out of WI by a bunch of angry deer hunters.

I'm not saying I believe he'll come back...and I'm also not saying that the media coverage of this isn't overdone...But, IF he were to come back true football fans will welcome the chance to again watch a good player lead his team. Any thinking otherwise is a rival or a some fantasy football nerd.

This guy is such an attention hound....My goodness man stop dragging it out. Let everybody move on - the Packers front office doesn't want you back, they are retiring your number on their first home game so they can put your drama behind them. I'm already dreading the pregame, post game, in-game, Farve tribute butt smoochfest that I'm going to have to endure while actually wanting to see a football game. For heaven sake, get on your tractor and ride off into the sunset....Please!!!!!!!

Butler is out of his mind thinking he'll go to the NFCN, although it can be argued that Chicago and Minnesota are both just a QB away from really contending. If he goes anywhere he's going to go somewhere he has a shot at winning. Chicago has a SB defense and STs and Minnesota has a running game, and running defense. There's no way in hell the thought of playing in Detroit even crosses Favre's mind.

Favre to Hester could be interesting.

Cowboys. Competitor, big name, big show. Jerry Jones always keen to waste draft picks on guys that won't even play for him in 2008. He could be a great mentor for Romo heave-hoing the ball into triple coverage ... natural fit.

Jeezy must be an Eagles fan. That trade is just hysterical :)

Hall of Fame QB + Eagles new #1 WR for your castoff CB and 2 first rounders? SIGN ME UP.

But, anyways. He's not going anywhere. Worst case possible scenario, the Packers just hold onto for 2 years as he ruins his reputation.

It seems to me that others are dragging this thing along. Who's next, Favre's kinder guarding teacher's assistant.... As a huge Packer fan, it's time to MOVE ON. This is crazy how it keeps making news. Hilarious if you ask me.

Now I don't see Favre as the hero as some do but if anything the guy seems like a pretty down to earth guy if anything. I just don't see the asshole moves that are speculated at times. Besides, why would anyone that has a high dollar post career possibility in a city risk that? I can't understand why Trent Green left KC. If he had retired he'd make a fortune here because people loved the guy and he's nowhere on the level Favre is in GB.

I love this... in a drunken joke I traded for Favre in my keeper league for a player I had no intentions of keeping(we trade for the sake of trading sometimes). If he comes back, I got a steal!

What did Michael Jordan do to all of us?

If Favre still wanted to play he should have just said so rather than subject us to a 3 ring circus.

On the plus side is that Favre will likely become a bigger distraction in media circles than Ocho "Stinko, Psycho, Cheapo".

well I suppose Favre could want one more record to hang his helmet on...being the only QB to beat ALL 32 NFL teams (though some may argue he has already beat the Packers a few times over the years)

the packers and ted thompson love young player. The Eagles need a veteran QB & WR to win NOW. I propose:

The Eagles Trade:
-Lito Shepperd
-both of their first round picks

The Packers trade:
-Brett Farve
-Greg Jennings

a match made in football heaven, Kevin Kolb can sit and learn from his mentor and give up his #4 uniform, and the eagles can do a seperate trade on the side and send Mcchoke, i mean Mcnabb back to his hometown Chicago.

GEEZ...this is like a daily kick in the nuts.

Since the Packers would likely only deal to the AFC, the only teams I could imagine having any interest are Buffalo, NYJ, Kansas City and Baltimore (maybe).

Of those four, the Jets are the most logical since they're all in for 2008. So Packers, make the deal so I can quit hearing this guy's name.

Why has his papers not been turned in yet? It does not take this long to complete them... As far as I am concerned, he is reitred, will not be returning regardless of what butler says...
