With the Denver Broncos looking to add bodies to a front office that absorbed the termination of G.M. Ted Sundquist and the Atlanta Falcons looking to shed some bodies after the arrival of G.M. Thomas Dimitroff, a guy who might otherwise be getting the boot in Atlanta could be heading to Denver.
The Denver Post reports that long-time Falcons exec Brian Xanders has been offered a job with the Broncos.
He would join Jim and Jeff Goodman to form The Three Stooges a trio of lieutenants who would answer directly to coach Mike Shanahan.
Xanders served as the Falcons’ chief contract negotiator and salary-cap manager, and he evaluates veteran and college players.
The stakes are high for Shanahan, who now has full power but also full accountability. We heard prior to the draft that owner Pat Bowlen planned to keep a close eye on how the new power structure performs in the first post-Sundquist draft. We’ve got a feeling that Bowlen’s interest in how things play out this year will continue to be high.

Why do I get the feeling Florio doesn’t like Coach Kevlar?

Shanahan has always had full control while being the Broncos head coach. That was the stipulation for Shanahan joining the Broncos in 1995. He might have come in 1993 if Bowlen would have offered him full control, but he didn’t. It is very misconstruing to say that Shanahan now has full control because he always has.

the Broncows can put who ever they want in the office, but the problem IS Shanahan!!! he’s losing his ability to communicate with his players that’s why they haven’t been in the playoffs in 2 years!!! till he gos away the Broncows wont do much!!!

ohhhh Browncos, thats so original how long have you had that one. For one minute if you think Bowlen is worried Shanahan you are all high. Denver will be fine. Shanahan has been running thee show since 1995. I sure did not hear any complaining winning a couple Super Bowls or even going as far as the AFC title game in 2005. Give him some credit he knew he could never get any farther with Plummer and decided to go a different direction. As for Florio its par for the course. You know his hatred is almost comical.

Is a fins fan telling us what is wrong with ANOTHER team? Yes, let’s get some input from a 49er’s fan too.
–If you looked at Shanahan’s draft this year it was pretty solid, ESPECIALLY in character–a majority were team captains.
Let’s not grade Shanahan until we see how his team actually does this year, shall we?

That was the best 7th round I have ever seen.
They really need Art Carmody, Pat Bowlen needs to step up and make it happen or all this drafting will matter zero at the end of a tight game.
