You see, they DID get a couple QB’s, so what if they were picked up off the street… Like Rex really needs that much competition…

What a namefor a kicker, Shane Longest. It’s better than being Shane Wide Right.

I’m not really as “angst-ridden” as most other Bears fans that they didn’t draft a QB in the later rounds. Going into this draft there was only a small handful of QB’s i wanted to see them go after - Matt Ryan (obvious), Chad Henne, Joe Flacco, and Kevin O’Connell. I have my share of issues with some of the guys they drafted, but im not going to fault them for NOT drafting some pus-armed camp fodder and trumping him up like he’s a major cog in the machine

I could’nt agree with you more misterjerk - why waste a pick on someone who wouldnt even be considered in a draft that actually featured more than 3 decent QB’s…get the o-line in order, get some wideouts and then put the right guy not just any one, in place to run the thing…picking a QB just to pick one makes zero sense

a 5th rounder on josh johnson would have been money. instead we get another tightend. another freakin tight end. yeah, we need more of those. and of course, gruden picks up johnson two picks later. what would it hurt to use a 5th rounder on someone who is going to learn for a while and has the tools to be a superstar. this was the worst feeling i’ve ever had after a bears draft. at least we finally have a LT

im on page with vdogg, i think the bears drafted pretty well. they addressed some areas that really needed to be fixed. drafting a left tackle will allow tait to move over to the right side where hes better suited at. they picked up a big mauler for a guard which will help out with the run game since our passing attack is pathetic. i really liked the pick of craig steltz. our safeties havent had the greatest run of health and consistency of late and with comparisons to doug plank and gary fencik ill take him.

At first I was a little disappointed with our draft but I’m liking it more and more the more I look at it and research the players. Hopefully Chris Williams will be a staple on the line, and hopefully Matt Forte provides a punch to a dead backfield. Marcus Harrison’s good on that D-line. We need him since we dumbly gave up Tank Johnson (either give him away riiiight after that gun stuff, or not at all; he wasn’t even drunk when he got pulled over). Also, Earl Bennett and Marcus Monk can be goood receivers, maybe? Maybe, the defense gets shored up and some of our offensive guys and draft picks play big — and Grossman gets amazing like he was in college. Maybe I’m delusional. And we win the Super Bowl. For real.
Hey, it could happen.

Grossman played great for about a month in 06. I think it was a fluke, but the Bears must think that’s still in him somewhere. I hope they’ve got him in therapy or something to coax it back out for this season. I don’t fault the Bears for not picking a QB this draft. It was a weak class and they have enough other needs, too. But damn do I wish we didn’t have to spend another season waiting for lightning to strike at QB.
