So much for Wisconsin cornerback (now Eagles cornerback) Jack Ikegwuonu putting those criminal charges behind him.
According to WKOW-TV in Madison, Wisconsin, a plea deal aimed at getting the matter resolved before Ikegwuonu was drafted by an NFL team didn’t go through, because Ikegwuonu’s brother refused to agree to it.
Ikegwuonu and his brother, Willie, were busted in November 2006 for allegedly stealing an Xbox — the old-school kind, not a 360.
Even if his brother changes his mind at some point in the future, it was critical for Ikegwuonu to get the deal done before he officially joined the NFL. As to any guilty pleas entered or convictions imposed moving forward, Ikegwuonu will most likely face potential penalties under the league’s Personal Conduct Policy.
This could force Ikegwuonu to take his chances by going to trial. The only problem is that he faces one felony count, and a conviction might disrupt not only his football career but also his freedom.
Ikegwuonu was selected by the Eagles in the fourth round of the 2008 draft.

Another great pick by the Eagles in what will go down as the greatest draft of this decade! I can’t wait until next year when we have two 1st round drafts to trade away.

Wow, he may have been the DPA (dumbest player available), caught stealing something he could have bought for $40, especially with boosters probably giving him a few hundred $$$ every week, being a starter.

Another character draftee by the master-drafter, Andy “the original manatee-genius” Reid. He’s sooooooooooooo smart! Soooo many draft picks to trade down with next year, when he can pick other hidden gems whose true value no one else perceives! (Yeah we mean you, Bellycheck and Polio and Reese-cup.) Whoooo! Ikegwuonu is the real deal. He was a two time All Big-10 Defender. He has good size at 6′1 and about 205 playing weight and rumored (by the wisconsin coaching staff) to have sub 4.4 speed. A good example of his next level closing ability was when he ran down Darren Mcfadden in the Wisconsin-Arkansas bowl game in 2007. If he stayed his senior year he would have been a first round selection.

Jack’s really not a bad kid. He made a really stupid mistake and he never got into anymore trouble during his time at UW. As BadgerRyan states, he is the real deal. What’s troubling to me is how freaking stoopid his brother Willie must be to turn down a plea that would drop a felony down to a misdemeanor. Put down the crack pipe, Willie and slowly walk away.

trading down actually helped the eagles because they actually got two picks out of it and even another first rounder next year. Plus, DeSean Jackson was still made available to them and they took him, so it wasn’t a bad idea to trade down again.
