It’s no secret that the San Diego Chargers were looking to replace running back Michael Turner, who signed with Atlanta as a free agent, with a new backup to LaDainian Tomlinson, the 2006 NFL MVP.
The Chargers moved up in round three to get Turner’s potential replacement, and it’s a guy who might be more than just the backup to Tomlinson.
Giving up a fifth-round pick in 2008 and second-rounder in 2009 to the Patriots for the 64th overall pick in the draft, the Chargers snared LSU’s Jacob Hester. Listed as a fullback at the NFL level, Hester was a tailback at LSU. He seemed to always have the ball in his hands during key moments for the 2007 national champions.
So the six-foot, 228-pounder likely will be used in multiple capacities by the Bolts.

Yeah right. If the Chargers couldn’t figure out a way to play Turner more often, Hester is just gonna rot on the bench too. Turner is really good, and I’m hoping to snag him in the second or third round of my Fantasy Football draft this year…

You want Hester on your team. Awesome special teams player. Runs hard between the tackles. Great hands. Leadership. He is great in short yardage with the game on the line. Just ask the Gators. He is no LT, but Charger fans you will be happy with this RB.
