Well, the Chiefs are now on the clock.
Michael Smith of ESPN reports that the Oakland Raiders will select Arkansas running back Darren McFadden with the fourth overall pick in the draft.
The Raiders were able to make their decision because the Fins have signed Jake Long, and it’s being widely reported that the Rams will take Chris Long and the Falcons will select Matt Ryan at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
So we’re actually a little bit ahead of where we would have been if the draft had started at noon.
The Chiefs are on the clock.

So much for my previous comments. McFadden said he thought he would end up with the Jets. Unless, of course, McFadden demands a trade.

pushing the draft to 3 oclock is one of the stupidest things the league has done, its taking all of the drama out of it, 2 hours before it starts

They have got to be planning some sort of a trade with Dallas if they take him. They have 4 decent RBs already and no line and holes on defense. How can they pass on Long, Dorsey or Ellis?

You know, it could all be a ruse by teams…the Raiders could be trying to get the Cowboys to call them quickly with those other two picks etc.

If you’re the Chefs, for gawd sakes don’t hold your breath on this. If Dorsey is available, it would be an ideal situation for New Orleans to trade up.
If.

In my opinion, I believe that in the next few years, the first round will be held on Friday night. Rounds 2-3-4 will be on Saturday and 5-6-7 will be on Sunday.

It is very important that the West Coast have a noon start, at the expense of a now late afternoon Draft start for the East Coast.
The West Coast has the second largest city in America in Los Angeles, and it’s very important that they get to watch the Draft since they didn’t even have enough fan support to keep an NFL football team.

I wouldn’t trust the Raiders if I were the Chiefs to -not- try and screw them by changing their pick at the table.

The Chiefs have to take Dorsey if he is available, they haven’t been able to stop the run for years and this guy was number one on a lot of boards, how do they not take him?

i’m not buying any of this until i happens. this would be a rediculous pck for oakland who has a ton of rb’s already and no 2nd or 3rd round picks.

No brainer, Chiefs should take Dorsey. They need an impact player on that line to replace the presence of Jared Allen.

I have to think it is a ruse to drum up trade talks too.
Everybody says Al Davis covets offensive flash, but in reality, over the last 20 years he has only drafted 1 RB and 1 WR (N.Kaufman, T.Brown) in the first round. Meanwhile he has used 13 first rounders to defend against the big play during that period (DBs, DEs). Hmmmm…
