Brian, that is because most universities have different academic entry standards for athletes vs regular people who enter. How do you think schools like Duke get people to play basketball for them when their academic bar is higher than most schools. Also if a school wants someone to get in, they'll make exceptions regardless of the persons intelligence.

This also can link to that Michigan academic scandal where professors are niiiiiiiiiiiiice to them athletes that Michael David Smith pointed us toward with that 4-part serious in Michigan's student newspaper. How does someone like Mario Manningham get into the University of Michigan if its standards are allegedly so much higher than other places?

I agree with SSgt Band.... Jerry Rice (not even comparing the greatest WR to MM) ran a slow 40 time coming out of college too, but you never saw him get ran down after he had the rock in his hand.... I want someone to catch, run and recognize not develop the cure for cancer on my football team....

Im surprised he made it through high school. I would really like to see some of the questions on this test. How do you show a low intelligence just visting teams? What, the front door said pull and he was pushing so he couldnt get in.

I keep seeing Mr Florio banging on Manningham for his "SSSlow 40 Time" at the combine yet failing to mention at his pro day he ran a 4.44 and a 4.38. Whether you want to adjust or not the time, watch the game film of him and how he was a vertical threat. That doesnt come from being sssslow. He may not be the brightest bulb but I dont think you need to know who Sargon The Great was in order to catch footballs in the NFL. When is the last time the WR position exuded intelligence? Chad Johnson? Terrel Owens? Randy Moss? Einstein would be proud. Whoever drafts Manningham will get a play maker, he like all uneducated pro athletes will need guidance.

Well, I guess one consolation is that people can keep writing about him, and he'll have no idea what they're saying.

Vince young scored a single digit and it shows on the field. Young is a supremly talented man but he plays the QB position and you have to pretty smart to quarterback a team. Football smarts maybe different then test/book smart but come on...single digits on the Wonderlic?? Have you seen saple questions from the wonderlic? I have and I am not joking my children 12 and 10 years old would score in the teens.

Manningham is talented but not Young. The plus is they play different positions and I would imagine WR is a lot less cerebral than QB. Add in Manningham's pot issue...and I would run run run away. I would not draft him at all. Lastly, what did Randy Moss score on the wonderlic? He is a supreme talent (ala Young) at an easier position and has done very well...he could have been the best of all time if he would just stop being silly and put the pot down until his playing days are over!

I don't think the Wonderlic exposed anything we didn't already know as he has always worn his brains on his sleeve.

Sort of irrelevant. WR's aren't QB's. They just need to know their routes.

Maybe he was high when he took the test...then again maybe he wasn't and that's why he scored a 6.
