Receiver Chad Johnson isn’t the only guy who wants out of Cincinnati.
According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, tackle Levi Jones recently asked for a trade.
Per Schefter, Jones wants out because of disagreements with the coaching staff.
Jones, the tenth overall pick in 2002, is signed through 2012, at salaries of $3 million in 2008, $3 million in 2009, $3.75 million in 2010, $4.55 million in 2011, and $5 million in 2012.
Jones’ interest in leaving is another reason for the Bengals to dig in their heels on Chad Johnson. Once they let Johnson leave, any other player who has a stick in his butt will try to get out, too.
As to Jones, maybe the best way to get his rear end in line is to have Joey Porter (and six other guys) come to town and kick it again.

“Digging in their heels” is not the solution. The Bengals need to address the root causes of why their best players want out.

There comes a point where one has to wonder whether the players have a reason for this. I mean what if in reality the coaching staff is extremely poor and the team isn’t going anywhere because management doesn’t care to pay up to the cap maximum or pay coaches top dollar, which would then leave them with poor coaches. It would be really tough for a player that just wants to win to want to play football for them.

I’m sorry, does anyone else out there have a job where they can tell the person who signs their paycheck what to do?
Since when did the employee get the right to decide how much he should be paid and where he wants to work?
Go Mike Brown, I’m rooting for you to stick it to Levi Brown now also!

Ditkas Billy Clint Cigar, this is the NFL, not the USSR. They are not slaves or communists. They are profesional football players who have been proven to be top performers.
They did sign a contract, they want to break it or have it traded to a contender.
Even in the most cutthroat sales and legal firms emplyees with non compete clauses under contract have the option of buying their way out of them even if they can not take clients with them.
Just becuase it has been done a certian way for a long time does not mean it is right or fair. Personally I want all the good players on the Bungles to go to the NFC.
How is it “sticking it” to someone to make them play for a team or coaching staff they don’t respect or want to be around?
Do you really want to pay someone that much money to roll his eyes in every meeting and pout and half ass effort?
They do have great trade value. Unload them while the value is higest, and build a team that wants to play for Bungle football. Don’t waste Carson’s entire carreer in Cincy, Trade him to the Ravens and you can draft Cedric Ellis and Ryan Clady.

Things like this are so funny. He complained about a long term contract so he b#tched and moaned about then. Now that he’s got it, he unhappy again. It gets old real quick hearing all these stories about players not happy with the contract that THEY signed. No one had a gun to their head.
When the housing market crashes(again)or loan rates drop significantly after I buy another home, I am going to complain to the lender that I should get the new rate and not have to be satisfied with the one that I signed earlier…

On a day where every NFL franchise has hope for the future, my Bengals keep getting worse.
I really, really, REALLY hope Marvin and Mike know what they are doing.

He wants out because the Bengals Frachised Stacy Andrews, you know, they guy who took his place after Jared Allen absolutely torched him in like game 3 last year. By absolutely torched him I mean Levi was chasing him from behind and never touched Allen on his way to flattening Carson Palmer. So after that he got benched, and now he is crying. Levi is not 85 though, he will play and collect his money.

Most of you commenting here don’t know much about the Bengals. First of all, their best players do not want out. Chad and Levi are not their best players. Carson Palmer is their best player. TJ is their best receiver (especially under pressure), Willie Anderson is their best Offensive Lineman. Chad is a whining crybaby who gets good stats but falls apart mentally and emotionally during big games (See Playoffs 2005). They did have a coaching problem on the defense, but took care of it this off season. Levi Jones was upset last year because they didn’t start him every game. Well, he was injured and he wasn’t playing well. I suspect Levi is reacting to the newer, tougher, Marvin Lewis, who is no longer letting Chad have his way and may be drawing the line on other things as well. With Chad either sitting at home or playing elsewhere, there is going to be a much better attitude on our team. We added some defensive players and Odell Thurman is back. We are going to add more in the draft. I expect the Bengals to do very well this year despite a tough schedule.

You should. That’s called “refinancing” and can save you some money. You have the right to go to another lender.

When Levi got jumped by Porter, Florio quoted a source that said something along the lines of “there would be a line to punch levi jones in the face”. Leads me to believe that Jones is another poor character guy on the team. Just like the arrests, this is another consequence of ignoring character issues in the draft. When things don’t go well, these type of guys have a tendency to bail.
