A league source pointed out to us something that we missed in our looooong-ass Saturday morning item regarding Darren McFadden.
Though McFadden could slide, the question that many league insiders are asking themselves as the draft approaches is when will the Dallas Cowboys will try to make their move up to get him? The Cowboys have the No. 22 and No. 28 selections in round one.
Under the “old” trade chart, the points make those two picks fall between No. 7 and No. 8. Under the “new” chart, it puts them between No. 4 and No. 5.
This makes the Chiefs a potential candidate for the trade, since they clearly are trying to stockpile young players. Such a move would give them three first-round picks in 2008.
And let’s not rule out the possibility that there might be another team out there that would like to get McFadden for itself, and/or to block the ‘Boys from getting him. The Eagles are widely believed to be very interested in moving into the top ten. But teams don’t trade up for the privilege of picking higher; they do so because there’s a player they covet.
Since the Eagles haven’t been able to acquire a veteran receiver who can open up the rest of the offense, why not land a game-breaking tailback who can do the same?
Sure, the Eagles have Brian Westbrook. And the Vikings have Chester Taylor.

Hahah you just gave every Eagles fan a boner (figurativly speaking ofcourse)…I wouldn’t mind McFadden in the first round…highly unlikely though…can’t wait to see the “EAGLES MOVING UP FOR MCFADDEN?” and “MCFADDEN AND WESTBROOK TANDEM?” articles on yardbarker.com

You obviously know nothing about the eagles or Brian Westbrook. He is 10x better then Mcfaden will ever be. Westbrook is the entire Eagles offense.

I hate the Eagles, but even I have to admit Westbrook and Taylor are not comparable.
I’m convinced your wrote that just to get a rise out of all the Philly Phans.

Sorry Florio. Chester Taylor does not equal Brian Westbrook. Not the same situation. Nice try though.

That sounds like a pipe dream - I could see that same argument being made for Felix Jones who is much more attainable than McFadden - Young backs/receivers don’t play in this offense - why sepend the money for a guy that you will use part time -
Not to say that McFadden isn’t a supreme talent - he is. And I’d love to se him as a bird - but I don’t think we’re dealign with Albert Einstein, and McNabb spent enough time on his back last season due to backs’ (other than Bwest) failure to pick up the blitz -

You’re not seriously equating Chester Taylor with Brian Westbrook, right? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve read all day, sorry Florio.

Sure, the Eagles could move up to get McFadden. And Madden could remove his lips from Favres right butt cheek. And Jerry Jones won’t get any more face lifts to stop scaring all the children in Dallas. All these things could happen…..but I doubt it!

I know, it’s fun tweaking Iggles nation. One day you’re labeling Mike Patterson a bust, even though he’s a very talented tackle who plays every snap of every game. Now you’re comparing B-Westbrook to Chester Taylor, and that’s just silly. If Westbrook was on the trading block, all but 1 or 2 teams in the league would want him.

He didn’t write that he was comparing Westbrook was Taylor. He just said that don’t think it won’t happen just because the team already has a starting back.

Haha, I don’t know how to describe the emotion that that last paragraph evoked. On one end, it would be really fun to watch DMC in midnight green, and Westbrook is approaching the age where we need to look for his successor…(before you play for the birds, you must have a redshirt year)
If we can’t get a top flight WR, why not take a top flight RB, and put Westbrook as a receiver?? Haha, thanks for the smile this morning, but when the Eagles take an OT this year, I won’t be upset, we need a successor plan, and a top notch LT across from Andrews would make our team much more able to continue to compete and give me hope each year. I hate how they have only “gone for it” one time, but I remember the 90s, and I don’t think I could mentally handle being a Falcons fan or Cardinals or Bengals fan…

Some on here have clearly misunderstood the Westbrook/Taylor comment at the end. The Vikings drafted ALL DAY even though they had a starting tailback..ala Taylor (1400yds the year before). Florio is trying to equate that to the Eagles considering taking McFadden even though they have Westbrook. Is that so hard to understand or are the BOO BIRD PHILLY fans still in a tizzy? Go throw something or someone over a bleacher already…make sure it’s a Cowboys fan please!
By-the-way: McFadden on his best day is no All Day!

I think the best scenario for us Pats fans is for Sheppard and Philly’s #1 to go to New England in exchange for the #7.
Then the Pats can trade Philly’s pick to Miami for Jason Taylor.
I think Sheppard and Taylor for the #7 overall is a pretty good day.
