Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to delay the start of the draft until 3:00 p.m. EDT after all.
Now that there’s nearly a full business day for decisions to be made and reporters to seek information before the first pick is made, teams are making decisions about whom they’ll pick — and the folks who thrive on gathering information are getting it out there.
And so we now know what the first three picks in the draft will be, thanks to a report from Adam Schefter of NFL Network that the Falcons will select quarterback Matt Ryan, even with defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey expected to still be on the board.
It’s likely a business move, not a football move, for a franchise that was decimated by the Mike Vick fiasco. And the arrival of Ryan slams the door on any chance of Vick returning to play football at some point in the future.
Unless Ryan ends up in jail, for something like dog fighting.

I still maintain that the Falcons should grab Dorsey with the #3 pick and then offer all 3 2nd round picks to the Patriots to get back in the first round and get Matt Ryan. This will take some of the pressure off of him being the savior in year 1 since there is another #1 pick to shoulder the attention.

Well, my mock draft is already shot to hell! By 3pm, we’ll already know the whole first round.

So if its Long, Long, Ryan, and the Raiders take McFadden, the Chiefs get a real gift with Dorsey falling into their laps at 5, no?

I’m fine with this. I like Ryan, but I hate the Chiefs and I like Kyle Boller. So him going to ATL is the best-case scenario for me. Hopefully the Ravens don’t take Henne at 10.

Rather brilliantly, all 6 players in attendance should feasibly be off the board in the top 6 picks.

this was a VERY bad idea starting it at 3 so it’ll dig into prime time so they can get more for advertising. serves them right, that’s what they get. not everything has to be about squeezing every last cent possible. idiots.

Adam Schefter is single handely ruining the draft. Can he at least wait until it starts before giving the picks.
