Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times reports that the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have already agreed to a trade that would send veteran defensive end Jason Taylor to Tampa.
The trade would apparently send the Bucs’ second-round pick (52nd overall) to Miami, in exchange for Taylor, the 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year who has reportedly said that he would like to finish his career somewhere other than Miami. It is not clear whether any other picks would be involved in the trade.
Taylor has two years left on his contract and is scheduled to earn a combined $17 million in those two seasons, so it’s likely that the Buccaneers would want him to restructure his contract, but there has been no word about such an agreement being reached between Taylor and the Bucs or any other team.
When asked about a potential trade, Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden was noncommittal, saying, “There have been some trade rumors and I don’t think we’re any different than anybody else. When you’re talking about high-profile players, we’re going to pick up the phone and see what’s going on. It’s part of our job.”
UPDATE: The Buccaneers traded the 52nd pick, but to the Jaguars, not to the Dolphins.

I sure hope its more than just a 2nd rd pick. Taylor has at least 3 good years in him and is worth a 1st rd pick to a SuperBowl Contender. Miami should not make a trade just for the sake of making a trade.
I also thought the Lorenzo Booker trade was bad. The guy was selected in the 3rd. rd. last year and showed a lot of promise when he finally got to play so I would think settling for anything less than a 3rd rd pick would not make much sense.

You’ve gotta think that by drafting who they did in the 2nd round (I cant remember his name right now), they’re planning to dump Taylor.
How about Philadelphia? We’ll give you a few of our 10 3rd - 7th round picks(ugh)!
