NFL teams are mostly evaluating college players today, but Colts General Manager Bill Polian says that when the draft is over he could be ready to think about adding a veteran free agent, linebacker Rosevelt Colvin.
When healthy, Colvin has been a solid player for the Patriots the last five seasons, but he’s had trouble staying healthy, including missing the last five games of the 2007 regular season and the playoffs.
“It’s an interesting name because he’s local,” Polian said of Colvin, an Indianapolis native who attended Purdue. “I don’t know. That’s a secondary issue. Once we get through the draft, then we’ll take a look at that.”
Two other veterans, former Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander and Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor, have been mentioned as potential Colts acquisitions, but Polian said, “We have no interest in either.”

Does Colvin even make sense in their scheme?

Can Colvin play DE? Because isn’t he a 3-4 OLB?

Colvin makes perfect sense in the Colts scheme. But not at linebacker. He would be a defensive end for the Colts.

Colvin would play DE in the Colts scheme. The injury bug would not be a huge deal as they would want him for depth.

If they are looking for depth, great pickup. If they are looking for a starter, bad, terrible, aweful pickup. Rosey hasn’t been healthy since he broke his hip trying to pick up a fumble. The Patriots never really got the player they wanted from the Bears.
