Apparently, some Cheeseheads think that Brett Favre’s “something’s bound to happen” remark regarding the onset of training camp in the first year of his retirement was meaningless, when judged in the full context of his Thursday visit to The Late Show with David Letterman.
So watch the entire segment for yourself, and decide what Brett means.
Our take? If Brett was kidding around, he should have at least made an unequivocal statement at some point that he won’t be back, period.
But he won’t do that because he’s not able to do it because he’s not completely sure that he won’t come back.

Favre is on the Letterman, which is supposed to be a comedy forum. Favre’s playing around. He’s joking with David and visibly nervous to be on stage. My take: he’s not coming back.

I guess brett should’ve conferred w/ the media before taking a seat next to letterman, just to be sure he he knew what they expected of him, ie an unequivocal statement about his future. look people, he’s retired; he’s bound to be questioning himself at this stage, but until he recinds his retirement, “I am retired” is enough of an unequivocal statement for me.

“somethings bound to happen”
Like any retired player, he’ll be missing the game more at that time.
Just a natural human emotion.
I wouldn’t read anything into it. Now if Rodgers gets hurt maybe that natural human emotion could be used to persuade him to take action on that emotion. That is improbable though.

Wait till a team is in need for a QB because on the 1st day of camp his knee blows. He has the itch. I’m not totally convinced that he wasn’t “pushed” in some way to leave.

Man, the color of that jacket is remarkably close to that of the HOF inductions. I wonder if that was intentional by the wardrobe folks.

Mr Ego Favre just can’t let it go. He knows he’s finished, but he’ll stay in the limelight as long as he possibly can by dangling the return until everyone realizes that he’s full of crap.

I think that Brett proved that by his hesitations, That Randy DID have something to do with his retirement, I think he WILL come back. The question is, Where is he going to be traded to? I think that Green Bay is moving on and have been preparing to move on for the last few years, me being in Wisconsin, I can say that with a good amount of certainty! The Vikes would be complete with Brett, He’s used to working with no names and making them into something. That would never happen, GB will trade him somewhere far away. Where do you guys think he could go?

Wow, not often you get a guy wearing a mustard coloured jacket on TV. BRADY QUINN.
My guess is that he was hamming it up to create some kind of banter with Letterman and the audience. Of course he’s going to have second thoughts, but for me, he’s a man of his word and that’s important. I also think that in his own words, he wouldn’t want to come back and practice at say 50%, 60%. If he was to do that he would run the risk of letting everyone down. I’d like to say that wasn’t his style, but I don’t think the S-word should be used in conjunction with Favre after the Jacket fiasco.

bucco that was exactly what i said when he came out, it looked like they just threw it on him before sending him onstage. now- believe me when i tell you this florio. favres comment was not in any way meant to signify anything in particular. letterman asked him if he missed minicamps and if he fealt starnge sitting at home, brett laughs and says “minicamps? no, not at all”. then dave-pushing for this sort of answer- asks about if brett thinks he will miss the game more coming up to preseason and opening day. brett, in typical fashion, gives the answer “i dunno, i mean, SOMETHING is bound to happen.” SOMETHING just means, yeah i may get ancy or i may think i made the wrong descision or i may not be affected at all. of course, SOMETHING is bound to happen.i knew as soon as he said that thatit would stir up controversy. now having said that i dont think that statement is any indication of if he is coming back or not. that will just remain to be seen. as far as him being on the cover of madden, i dont like it. madden curse, he is retired, it just doesnt seem right.

I don’t think he’s coming back…but I think he should…the Packers were good enough to be a Super Bowl team last year, and who’s to say they won’t be better next year? Brett should give it one more year.

He’s obviously having second thoughts. The bit about being able to skip training camp seemed to hit pretty close to home. I still stand on the side of him actually staying retired, but after watching this last night, I may have nudged a toe across (or at least onto) the “He’s coming back” line.

What a big baby. I’ve never seen anyone cry for more attention then him. Yes, he was a great QB but if you retire, then just make it official and stop trying to garner pity from everyone.

Yea… Something my happen like “butterflies in his stomach”
How can people read into that? He was obviously nervous, and just not thinking his thoughts out to clearly. He doesn’t owe PFT or anyone any explanation. If he wants to come back, good for him. Settle down people. Like mentioned above, he’s only human.
Why some of you just seem to hate for no apparent reason (other then your “sick of it”) is beyond me. Your not playing, so who cares? If you don’t like it, don’t read it.

Two things. One is I agree with others who say that when he says “Something is bound to happen” he’s more talking about feeling the butterflies or actually might start to miss the game. Not that Rodgers will get hurt… again. Second thing is that whole interview was just awkward. Brett did not want to be there and kinda had a feeling of wondering just what he was doing there at all. I think his agent has given up on getting Brett to come back and is now trying to angle him towards the booth. If so, that was a horrible move on his part. If Favre isn’t all in on something it’s just not worth doing in his opinion. Networks watching that must have cringed.

I have heard rumors of Dolphins, Falcons, San Francisco, and yes… Minnesota. I know nothing of course, just teams that I have heard come up on the radio sports talk, or people chatting. Strangely enough the Vikings are what is brought up most often. If he comes back at all, I’m happy with whatever he decides. It would be interesting situation to keep an eye on.
Just had a thought… Culpepper to Green Bay and Favre to Minnesota. How odd. Maybe Favre can pretend Moss is still there?

Come on now! I’m not even a true Packer fan but could anyone look more uncomfortable with their decision than Favre? It’s obvious that he is already regretting the decision which is exactly what we all knew would happen.
