Well, we’re now guaranteed to have several more months (or years) of the whole “Will Brett unretire?” talk. Appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman, former Packers quarterback Brett Favre talked about his status.
“I think when training camp gets close, something’s bound to happen,” Favre told Letterman.
Letterman then asked him what that means.
“I don’t know,” Favre said. ”Did I just say that?”
Thanks a lot, Brett. As if we didn’t have enough else to worry about as the season approaches.
On a completely unrelated (and irrelevant) note, Favre actually wore a jacket for the appearance. Of course, he wore it over an untucked, collared shirt and a pair of jeans. While the jacket didn’t really match the rest of the ensemble, it curiously was the same color as the jacket he’ll be wearing five years from now when he’s welcomed into the Hall of Fame.
Or maybe longer than five years from now, depending upon whatever “something’s bound to happen” means.

Lord Farve (I spell it the way it sounds) is going to be one of those player hanger on’s that just can’t let it go.
And, mark my words….although I don’t wish it on him he’ll be hitting the bottle/meds again when he’s out of football and can’t deal with the boredom or lack of attention. Then he’ll get attention by his rehab stints, Dr. Phil, etc etc….

Wow, lots of haters on this morning. Sounds like Favre torched a lot of your favorite teams one too many times, huh? You all want him to stay retired so that you don’t have to face him. I get it now…

Most of the replies on this board must come from folks who never played a competitive sport. If you had, you would realize that #4 was simply referring to the fact that when training camp and the games roll around, he will definitely miss the competition/commraderie, etc. The man will not play again…he will not pull a Jordan, Clemens, et al. Let them man stay retired, quit badgering him with questions and just thank God that you had the opportunity to watch Favre compete for 17 years for the best franchise the NFL will ever have.

I like how instead of watching the interview, some people just read Florio’s post and took it for fact. It’s not gospel…it’s rumors and speculation…use your head people.
I love this site, and I love the content, and the way its presented, but I swear, some of you hang on Florio’s sack like a bunch of monkeys…

Notice that only GB fans are the ones who are defending Favre.

It’s funny this comes up as the front page of a lot of major email providers had a story about a new method to tell how someone is lying. Aside from that though the man has been second guessing himself since before the press conference for his retirement even occured. The, “Something is bound to happen,” hinted at a lot but his face spoke volumes. My theory is that he is waiting to see what GB does with/in the draft, as well as other teams around the league. If the situation is favorable(In other words the chance of winning a superbowl is about guaranteed) he will come back for one more run and ride off into the sunset with a Lombardi trophy in hand. The perfect ending to a story book career. Should he manage to pull this off there won’t be a room large enough in Canton to house his bust.

Someone going to have to take the old man behind a shed and put him down like and old, sick dog….hey brett, the whole football world doesn’t revolve around you bud!…you must really hate your wife to want to leave and go to Green Bay..sheeeeshhhh…..If he had a clue, he’d get the message from GB management “we will retire your number on x date”….he’s like John Belushi in the SNL skit, the “guest who wouldn’t leave”.
