I hate mock drafts.  I really do.  It’s an exercise in pretending to know what a given team is thinking when you really have no clue what the team plans to do, unless the team is stupid enough to project its intentions to the world.  (Okay, so a few of them are.)

But, then again, with the real draft still two days away, the process of picking who’ll go and when they’ll go is our only alternative to sitting around and waiting for the real thing to get rolling.

And so we’ve got an idea.  Instead of pretending on our own to know what each team is thinking, we’ll open things up for PFT Planet.  Via the Cover It Live service, we’ll be launching a Live Blog for the purposes of receiving real time comments on each pick — some of which we’ll post — and then we’ll decide based on the reader consensus who each pick will be, one after another until we finish round one.

The First PFT Planet Consensus Mock Draft will get rolling Friday at 1:00 p.m. EDT, unless we realize that we have something more important to do.
