Somewhere, John Madden is smiling. And eating. While smiling.
Madden’s long-time football I-just-wish-I-could-quit-you guy, Brett Favre, will adorn the cover of the Madden 2009 video game, according to SportsBusiness Daily.
So what will the potential Madden jinx be for a guy who won’t be playing football in 2008? (We’re not asking it rhetorically — we’re giving you guys an opener for some creative and/or smart-alecky comments.)

bleh. i think this was a poor decision on EA sports’ part. Favre’s had his share of accolades and there is a ton of new talent in the league. You’re telling me they couldn’t find ANYone else? lame.

Well of course, he’ll be cursed and he’ll come back to play for the Falcons, where he’ll sustain a terrible injury, forcing him to re-retire. It’s karma baby, karma.

It’s a shame the “Madden” people put more time into debating who to put on the cover than they do into making the product better and more innovative.

Either:
A) Aaron Rodgers gets injured in camp, Favre returns to suffer career ending injury
OR
B) Favre comes back and plays for another team, alienating his fans, and possible combination of option A
OR
C) Brett Favre makes it rain in Mississippi strip club (or some other similar character destroying move) and ruins reputation and is not going to be a first ballot HoF entree
OR
D) brett favre dies

I’m a Vikings fan, so obviously I have to hate Favre. I believe he is one of the best quarterbacks and one of the most fun to watch, and would have loved to have him as the Vikings quarterback for the last however many years he played. The guy has been through enough bad luck off the field in his life and doesn’t need anything else to go wrong for him. I hope the Madden curse doesn’t affect him, and he can enjoy his retirement, watching his “replacement” get beat up by the Vikes D-Line, and Linebackers.
