Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey wants out of New York, and the New Orleans Saints appear to be his most likely future team.
But the Seattle Seahawks are also in the mix, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports. Per Vacchiano, some Giants insiders think Shockey will be traded before the first day of the draft is over.
Shockey has reportedly been unhappy with the perception that the Giants’ offense got better after he suffered a season-ending injury in December. One person who disagrees with that perception is the person who replaced Shockey in the starting lineup, Kevin Boss. And Boss also seems to be the one person who is confident that Shockey won’t leave.
“He’ll be back,” Boss said, per Vacchiano. “I’ve got a lot more to learn from him. He’s been a great mentor. Obviously he’s a better player than me. He can do some things I can’t yet.”
Whatever those things are that Shockey can do and Boss can’t, Boss may need to start doing them soon.

Does Seattle have enough night clubs to keep Jeremy happy? And didn’t Seattle run into trouble with another TE named Jeramy who also liked to close out bars? Can’t see Shockey and Holmgren being best buddies. Does Mike really want to spend his last season listening to Shockey b*tch and moan everytime he has to block and/or someone else gets the ball?

I wonder what Shockey’s teaching him, how to double-fist Long Island Iced Teas from a luxury box during the Super Bowl instead of being on the sideline supporting your team?

Yeah but Boss can play on as a team player, and that’s something Shockey lacks. But he’s still a solid TE with pretty good blocking skills. I wouldn’t mind seeing him in New Orleans.

Boss isn’t as good as shockey is or ever will be. But it goes to show you how much teams are willing to give up on talent and make it up with a player who’ll do his job and keep his mouth shut.
Bengals could learn a lesson from the Giants and just trade that malcontent ocho five-o.

This is all hype, just like Strahan not coming back last year. He’ll be back because no one is willing to give up a pro bowl caliber DB for Shockey, and Reese is not going to settle. Seattle would have to fork over a ridiculous amount for a guy who has had a hard time playing an entire season.

Give Boss credit for saying the right things & having the right attitude, whether he is hoping Shocker leaves or not

If this is true, al I can say is WOW - They just got rid of Stevens only to make a run at another malcontent.

I would love to see the Eagles make a play for Shockey. He would be a perfect fit for the Birds West Coast Offense. L.J. Smith can’t hold onto the ball when he’s healthy and can’t block worth of sh*t. It just makes sense!

As a Cowboys fan, I’d love to see the Eagles make a run at Shockey, too. No way Donovan McNabb, the most emo QB in NFL history, would be able to rise above Shockey’s ego and mouth. It would be sweet to see him play the race card against a white player, too. “It’s white on black crime!”

marcduke, Shockey and Stevens are different creatures. Shockey is a malcontent, Stevens is a criminal. You don’t want either on your team, but they can’t really be lumped together.

How does Shockey to the Iggles make sense? The Eagles are one the Giants biggest rivals and the Bird-Brains just franchised LJ Smith (I believe he signed the tender too). The Saints make a lot of sense, as do the Seahawks, who always seem to lack receiving options. Also, Holmgrem’s offenses have had success when given solid TEs (Keith “whoa nelly!” Jackson and Mark “she’s only 17″ Chumura) That said, Hasselbeck would have to deal with another enigmatic (thanks, Tiki) receiver with inconsistent hands.

The Seahawks can have Shockey. The Saints would be better off to walk away with Lito Shepard than Shockey. The Seahawks aren’t a contender in the NFC, so take Shockey. The Saints will trade up for Dorsey to anchor the D-line, have already picked up McCray to add depth to the DE, have added Vilma and dan Morgan at LB while holding onto 3 2-year starters, and added Gay an A. Glenn as Nickel and Dime corners and would take the team home with Lito ans McKenzie anchoring the defensive backfield. If they get Shockey, they will take the best offense in the league and be the best offense ever! I like Shockey, but I love Lito!

“instead of being on the sideline supporting your team”
Cause a guy in crutches with a broken leg should be close to fast moving football players in full pads…
