ESPN’s Ed Werder is reporting that the Titans and Cowboys have finally agreed in principle on the terms of a trade that would give the Cowboys the rights to suspended cornerback Pacman Jones.
Per Werder, the Titans will receive the Cowboys’ fourth-round pick in this weekend’s draft. The Cowboys could also end up sending additional compensation to the Titans, depending on whether Jones is reinstated and, if he is, how much playing time he gets. Jones will sign a new contract with the Cowboys; he will pay $500,000 to a charity of the Titans’ choosing as part of a financial settlement with the Titans.
If Jones is still suspended a year from now, the Titans will send an undisclosed 2009 draft pick back to the Cowboys.
The big question is whether Jones will ever be allowed back in the league, and whether the revelation this week that he paid hush money to the man arrested for a strip club shooting will have any bearing on his reinstatement.
Asked about that yesterday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, “I only know what I’ve read about that. Just take that on its face.”
UPDATE: The Titans have issued a statement confirming the trade, pending final details being worked out and Jones passing a physical.

Oh, so now it’s “hush money”. Pacman apparently told the commish that he paid a guy hush money. Telling somebody that you paid “hush money” kinda defeats the purpose of paying the “hush money”, don’t you think?
I don’t know why the Eagles fans are clowning, they still have the worst team in the division and the most emo QB in NFL history.

personally, I file this one under “who cares?” simply because we’re talking about a player that has not yet been reinstated, and for all we know, may never be. If and when he is allowed back into the league, I believe he can be an impact player for the cowboys, but I’ll be more interested when the reinstatement is acutlly official.

Sad day for Dallas Cowboy fans, that is, Tom Landry Cowboy fans. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say that there are still plenty of fans that are torn between pre Jones and post Jones when it comes to being a fan. One represented class and won. One is an Arkansas redneck who has no class but wins. Big difference.

I hope Pac gets his stuff together. Unfortunately as a Titans fan, we will probably come up short when Pac probably shows his rear end again. Get the Dallas 4th this year and end up giving up our 4th next year (we are not as good as Dallas, hence they egt a better pick).
The only thing the Titans gained was getting him off our roster, and that is a comforting thought.

I do not like Pacman, I do not like TO, I did not like Deion. But I stick with my team. Pacman has nearly Deion talent, for a 4th round pick. Not a bad price to pay. If he doesn’t play this year then Dallas gets an additional pick. Nothing on the contract is guaranteed. Could end up a good deal for the Cowboys.
