We continue our pre-draft, position-by-position (except when we slap two together) preview continues.
Next up . . . defensive ends.

You said the same copycat league thing in that DT segment! If you have no pass rush or can’t stop the run, then you don’t have much of a chance to win. I don’t know that the New York Giants Super Bowl victory will have an impact on where the highly touted defensive lineman will have gone, but there’s no way to truly know that answer. There’s nothing more frustrating than not being able to get to the quarterback at all. Before da Bears’ defensive revelation earlier in the millennium, my dad and I screamed at the TV, begging Bryan Robninson, Phillip Daniels, etc., to get to the QB … never happened. Well, they were OK, but before them those guys couldn’t get to the QB at all. Happy to see Alex Brown, Mark Anderson, Adawale Ogunleye, Brian Urlacher, etc., at work. But still, always gotta have a special place in your heart for Bryan Robinson because, if you remember, he had that miraculous blocked field goal (28 yard attempt) against the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 7 1999 the first game after Walter Payton’s death for us to win 14-13.
“I think Walter Payton actually picked me up because I know I can’t jump that high,” Robinson said after the game.
Gotta love memories and life.
Anyway, a defensive line is very, very important.
