Sean Jensen of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, contradicting a Tuesday pay-only report from Scout.com, says that the Minnesota Vikings have yet to make what we call the Lawrence Welk offer (i.e., a one and a two and a three . . . insert groan and/or rim shot here) for Chiefs defensive end Jared Allen.
“If that were the case,” Jensen writes, ”Chiefs president Carl Peterson would have personally flown Jared Allen to the Twin Cities.”
Jensen speculates that the Chiefs want a first-rounder and a second-rounder in 2008, and that the Vikings have offered either a one and a three in 2008, or a 2008 first-rounder and a 2009 second-round pick.

As a Diehard Viking fan I would be OK with giving up this years 1 and 2, not thrilled though. But I will be absolutely thrilled when Jared Allen is wearing Purple.

Don’t forget that Green Bay did the real Lawrence Welk deal (a one, two, a one, two, three) for the aging quarterback John Hadl.
Like all good Viking fans, Florio is at home blowing his long yellow stadium horn and singing skol Vikings. But I’m just happy that Tausher will stone him twice a year.
